Christian Troy has been able to bring CWM to RK3066 devices. I'm laying a How-To here, but I don't guarantee that CWM will work flawlessly or as intended. I just used these steps to install it on my tablet, and they worked,

You need the update.img with the ROM you're using in your tablet, Christian Troy's CWM build.

1) Unzip the file which contains Wendal's tools.
2) Rename your update.img to wendal.img and move it to the folder where Wendal's tools are.
3) Run Runme.bat
4) Go to the Temp folder and copy the parameter file you have obtained.
5) Unzip the file which contains CWM.
6) Enter the folder which says "rom" and paste the parameter file from your tablet, replacing the one that is there.
7) Run the RKAndroidTool app in the CWM folder.

Connect your tablet in Flashmode: switch it off, and connect it while you hold the VOL+ button. If Windows doesn't find the drivers, they're packaged in the "Drivers" folder of the CWM file.
9) Now the RKAndroidTool should recognize your tablet. Click on "Flash ROM".
10) The tablet will restart in CWM after the flashing. Just poke around for a bit, and if everything's all right, restart the tablet,

Thanks go, of course, to Christian Troy and Wendal. If you can, donate to those guys, they're amazing!

Christian Troy suggested that we recompile the recovery with the proper key values. He suggested to use this applet to find them: http://cloud.github.com/downloads/chrisboyle/keytest/KeyTest.apk

People could run the app, find the values for each key of their tablet, and recompile CWM for each model. If they can provide the parameter files from each model, then we could release CWM working properly for each model.

Interesting thread, thanks Logseman.

Do you know how to back out of this and return the tablet to stock i.e. no CWM? I can flash a stock system.img using flashtool and that works fine but CWM is still there. When I flash a stock img with rkbatchtool it gives a load error (was fine before cwm & USB lead is also fine).

Is there a safe way to do this?

Thanks

If you run the tool, you'll notice you're flashing certain modified partitions with it. I think they're misc, recovery and another one, aside of the optional bootloader.

Wendal's tools unpack the ROM for you, dividing it in the different partitions. You can copy the stock misc, recovery partitions, substitute them for the modified CWM ones, and flash them with the tool. Btw, I restored the original system image without issues. XUTT

Thanks Logseman, that's what I hoped you were going to say.

Perhaps this post can help you to get the parameter file.

hi darkrickpr, just ask a U1 user to create a from dump using the RomDump tool. This will create a dump and you'll find the parameters file in the system.tar archive.
here's a detailed tut: http://vondroid.com/....php?f=46&t=322
all the best!

This is the page.

My PiPo U1 was also unable to root with superoneclick but i succeed with the method on the chinese site in a post on the page above.
Do not ask me how i have done this, the tool is in chinese, i just tried often something and at last succeed.

This is that post from darkrickpr. to root it download ZhuoDaShi-2.2.10-setup.exe it is in Chinese

8" Hyundai Rock X w/ with v 4.0.4....

I finally have extracted and obtain the necessary "parameter" file to introduce the said CWM.
Unfortunately, the flash process has ended with trouble and the Tablet semi-bricked meaning remained off and noting helped to turn on it.

I had to reflash with its original (stock) rom to make it reusable..

Please be prepared and aware of the fact it is not enuf to place its parameter file to create correct and suitable CWM recovery img.

All executed very carefully as described here.

Extracted parameter file by using wendal tool..
Replaced parameter file inside C.Troy's and create modified CWM recovery img.
Flashed using RKtool for modified CWM recovery img.
Flashing started (drivers are okay) but ended as expected and Tablet never turned on CWM mod despite repeating process several time...

Yes, I am a noobie at tablets, this U20GT is my first....

I am learning about changing my ROM version for something more customized and with less Chinese bloat. I have tooted the U20GT and was ready to install CWM when I found a App called ROM Manager v5.0.2.1 by ClockworkMod. Is this the same thing?

I have not played at all with it as I am looking for a tutorial....

There are other apps like BussyBox, Online Nandroid Backup, should I use them or delete them?

I have seemed to have really done it with my TD-1010 RK3066 attempting to use this method, I had root working prior to attempting to install CWM,

I have tried without success to flash a multitude of recovery firmware's to it with no success I just have a white screen, I am able to flash with RKbatch tool and RKandroid tool.

I know theres just something im not doing right, related to the boot and kernel.
