Working OK with 1.9 drivers

ECOTOX_v1.3.1 with newest 1.9 drivers from the Vestinous firmware copied over ECOTOX default drivers in the SD card script/driver folder before fresh install works for me.Significant better scrolling compared with the official EKEN 1.7.4 update, and seem stable with low res. youtube and WiFi working.Only issue was crash when trying to login to Google Calendar before Google mail was set up (some language conflict in Calendar and down it went).I have installed Camera.apk from Vestinous distro to launch video and pictures and uninstalled ACT1 video player and Home++ frontend (both not necessary) without problems and now has a stable system for my needs.I will not use Market as perhaps fewer apps -> better scroll with our humble 350MHz processor. The SlideMe marketplace although seem to work without fiddling.5$ to ecotox beer fund is sent via PayPal,thank you.

I extracted the ECOTOX v1.3.1 firmware and replaced the drivers in scriptdrivers with those from the official v1.9 firmware. I did not replace the (whatever).sh file. I then flashed this on my M001 and it installed fine. I also have a 96MB linux swap partition on the sdcard. This really helps make the device more responsive.I prefer the Home++ UI as is the lightest, fastest UI I've seen on the M001. All those little icons down the right side give instant access to a range of function that would otherwise fill the screen with other icons or take several clicks. I've done the Market Fix. Once you have your unique 'androidID', setting up a 100% functional Android Market takes about 3 minutes. You pull the accounts.db off the device (one command), update the androidID in it (one command), then push it back on (one command). Done. The v1.9 drivers seem to work fine with ECOTOX v1.3.1. No issues so far. I also bundled up all the apps from the v1.9 firmware. I included the "YouTube support files". Okay, I just bought an M70003 I believed and would love to resolve the slow responsiveness of the touchscreen. I think your solution is what I am looking for, unfortunately, I don't follow any of the technical stuff you both are talking about. Can you lower your instructions a little, perhaps to a third grade level? Thanks

I'm reluctant, based on past experience, to have anyone do anything by rote that I understand conceptually. If anything goes wrong, the rote-follower will be utterly lost...sometimes they're lost even when it's going right. lack of confidence creates fear which leads to mistakes. Also...a lot of this is new vocabulary...so which words are you struggling with and we can build understanding from there.

To remember for myself I have made a resume of setup, perhaps it can be of help to someone else.System is stable and scroll almost flawless. Copied drivers from official(?) v1.9 firmware over ECOTOX 1.3.1 default older drivers in script/drivers folder before fresh install.Calibrated screen with stylus and set language.Uninstalled Home++,A1 video player,Documents to go + key.Configured WiFi and got Gmail running before checking Google Calendar working (for me Calendar caused crash when trying to open calendar before Gmail was setup - some language conflicts are reported). With ESfileManager navigated to system/apps folder and removed soundrecordcache.apk (or something similar) which seem to be a leftover from an ECOTOX uninstall - caused errormessage but had dissapeared after reboot.Updated ESfileManager to version from v1.9 firmware (copied FileBrowser.apk from script/apps folder to SD card and installed from there) having a nice blue apperance.Formatted SD card with swap partition with freeware G-parted tool (search and burn iso to bootCD) according to this and installed Terminal.apk ( Terminal is a command prompt, like DOS prompt in XP ).When running Terminal 1'st time and typing su (superuser) dialog box popped up and ticked yes to allways be superuser. Now when entering command "free" in terminal swap partition on SD card show up automounted with figure higher than 0.To read djvu files i use Vudroid and for PDF's Driodreader,to watch xvid files installed Wuzhenhuaplayer.Have not tried to get (Google) market to work but the alternative APKTOR market using apktor.apk and after enteringthese adresses works (more than 500 apps available).First update of app cache in APKTOR did not stop even after 15 minutes, but had although succesfully been done when forcing shutdown (pressing on button for 5 seconds) and rebooting. Default Home++ frontend, documents to go etc. can be reinstalled from the SD card script/apps folder where they reside as apk files.Swap on SD card should help browsing etc.It is also possible to decrease wifi output power to reduce noise and power consumption by ammendig a line in one of the config files with ESfileManagers inbuild text editor.
