i clicked on this thread thinking you had already volunteered...? i do agree thou that there need to be a specific a81-e FAQ thread w/ useful "noob" style how -to's and the like. i would be set then.but a need to have app, as we all know we dont have g-senor, so a rotate screen app to go portrait...which i just got my hands on thanks to member mingnon, thank you cheers. i was lost w/out it, typing on a landscape keyboard is a PITA
Just got my A81E tablet today, haven't played with it too much. As I gather information, I can volunteer to assemble an FAQ type thread with step by step instructions, and links to downloads, firmware, roms, etc.
I'd be happy to host files to avoid the usual rapidshare nightmares.

My host can handle text files and other html type docs. Larger files like roms, builds, tools, etc, sap my monthly bandwidth allotment. Meh, you get what you pay for.

I volunteer as well. Particularly on the limitations portion. This tablet is pretty much in need of A LOT of work. Bluetooth doesn't work. Flash 10.1 doesn't install on most firmwares. Market access is retarded (you can't access a good portion of the Market), etc. Bloody annoying. I'm going to get rid of this as soon as the Galaxy Tab or Archos 70 is out. This is definitely a tablet NOT for the faint of heart. Hell, even the supposedly shittier Rockchip aPads are more fully featured. If only the aPads weren't so ridiculously slow. The A81 may be several notches faster, but it's buggy and downright not a pleasurable experience. Even those ARM11 Android phones like the Galaxy Spica and Optimus GT540 feel so much faster and smoother. It's just not right! Only thing I love about this tablet is that the browsing experience with Dolphin HD is really good. It really shows off the speed of this tablet. Unfortunately, the rest of Android decided to crap up.

Check out Dreamhost. Unlimited storage and bandwidth (with a caveat for "excessive" usage) for ~$13/mo
Here are the facts. This is the best Android tablet for the time being. You can't go wrong for its price. It will surprise and amaze you and all those who gaze upon it, and will make your wildest dreams come true. The Gentouches and Apads are riddled with limitations, the iPad is an overpriced status symbol of the bourgeoisie, and the alternatives such as the Galaxy Tab and LG and Toshiba tablets all still have prices and release dates up in the air. This my friends I believe is the market segment's best kept secret.I anxiously await mine to flaunt at my local drinking establishments, getting inebriated or not, amidst all those who paid $499+ for admission into Steve Jobs' cult or those with their shiny new phones on their $80/mo. 2 year contracts. Yes, I shall scoff at them, knowing that I only paid $239 for mine shipped from the mystical Far East, including a stylish carrying case and car charger, and GPS that the expensive admission into the cult of Apple didn't get you. They will wonder what is that strange device he has, oh look at that kickstand, and his amazing Bluetooth keyboard he pulled from his pocket. They shall marvel at the magnificence of Google's Android 2.2 technology with all its speed and fluidity showcased on a device of such power, supported by a community of genius hackers that are constantly unlocking more and more of the device's potential. So I ordered on Tuesday, when is JTShop gonna send me my tracking number?

Awful lot of hyperbole going around :sI'd go as far as to say that this tablet doesn't compete with the iPad. This is barely even a consumer product, the firmware is so broken it's really more of a tinkering machine for Android hobbyists. That's just the way I like it, but there's no way I'd recommend it to a non-geek.

In fact I would go as far as saying it is the most complete firmware here in terms of its overall support for all the features. Gps, open gl, bluetooth to name a few.Sent from my A81E using Tapatalk
Current firmware can't even play 480p videos smoothly, USB host not working, battery indicator not working, no sleep mode, problems with flash, etc :s I may be wrong, I don't have my tablet yet, but based on the bugs listed around this forum the firmware is not stable or fully-featured enough to be considered "ready" for the normal American consumer. That being said, Witstech is quickly releasing patches, so I'm still hopeful.

Please add any FAQ stuff to the Wiki.
I am working on a layout of general FAQs And links to specific slate info pages.Stickys in forums will point to aproprate partsI will need help but I can start things going when I get back.Gallup,NM today. North rim grand canyon tomorrow
Mine has shipped today so no first hand experience but there do seem to be a number of FW shortcomings, still. Even so, we have bought them!Would love to see some very bright person really get into this and fix its irksome problems. I'd pay a contribution for that. 0831 seems to be better - just needs a big push in the right areas! Pity the source code wasn't available for programmer types to have a go at. Anyway, I know I will get a lot of fun from it. That's the thing with masochists!!
Wow... any complaints I have about the A81E are clearly unfounded. The Samsung Galaxy Tab will be $1200 USD. For 1/6th the price the A81E manages at least half the functionality

Wow, indeed. That sure makes your eyes water! Makes ipads look cheap.
I can only assume that Samsung is counting on carriers to subsidize the price bringing it below the iPad on a 2/3-yr contract. But even with a $600 subsidy (as high as they seem to go) it's still as expensive as an iPad.If Android tablets are going to go mainstream, we'll need something in the <$350 range without the A81E's bugs and with Samsung's aesthetics.
The most the tab will be is a little bit over $1000. Which is still not cheap. One huge difference between the Tab and the Wits is the ability to make phone calls. Plus, you will always pay a little more for a name.
