Hi,

I'm trying to find out which version of the 7" I have. If possible I'd like to avoid opening it up. ;-)

The info pasted below is taken from 'About this device', Android System App or Elixir:

I am not sure what you mean. There is only one version of the 7" ZT-180, unless you think you might have the ultra thin version or a ZT-280 C71 (capacitive touchscreen) or ZT-280 E72 (multitouch resistive), which I think you would know. You have the 7" ZT-180 v2 tablet (256MB RAM/4GB internal inand storage) single touch resistive touchscreen and it appears you are on the 0503 ROM..... The latest official Zenithink ROM for your tablet is the 0613 - http://www.zenithink...ownews_197.html

Ah, thanks for the corroboration. As you can see I'm quite confused at the moment.

& thanks for the link to the newer ROM.

Also I see you're running the 0613/0618 ROM. Is that because there aren't any better ROMs for our device?

Yeah. The 0613 android system image (system.tar.bz) with the 0618 kernels & zImage_update. The only difference with the 0618 is that it uses the ext4 file system instead of ext2, which frm my experience makes the tablet a lot more stable (less data errors to worry about)....
