Hi guys,Just signed up to slatedroid, but have been mooching about here for the past few weeks. I?ve become hooked on droid since acquiring my HTC Desire in May. It just does every thing I need it too, not as polished as an iphone but much more customisable for being how it is. I?m based in London in the UK, haven?t really got a feel from where you guys are from but under the impression not so much UK, mainly US??This has led me into the world of ?alternative? ipad type tablets. I?ve now decided that I?m going to get one and have been looking around for a while. I still haven?t found one that does everything in my spec list (I can?t believe most don?t have Bluetooth when you can get tiny USB Bluetooth adaptors for like ?2 in the UK ? how hard can it be to integrate with the mainboard in these things!!).Anyway, I?m off to Hong Kong on Monday and wondered if anyone had any thoughts on me maybe getting one out there - this sounds risky to me in terms of having any issues. I?ll be based in the shopping sector, Wan Chai which I don?t know might be a good place to get a tablet. On the other hand, buying from somewhere like tablet store uk is less risky but comes at a higher cost (although seemingly good support) and they seem to specialise more in rockchip based devices. I?ve noted there are a lot of clones of clones out there which can lead to you getting a crappy 300mhz processor and really don?t want to get ripped off. Happy to pay money for the right device. Have just started looking at the Nationite MIDnite at MP4nation Nationite MIDnite (Wits A81E) 7 Android 2.2 Tablet - A8 Cortex [MIDnite_pre2] - JPY?16,559 : MP4 Nation!, :: Low Priced MP4, MP3 Players and the latest scoop on the newest MP4 Player this looks good, don?t care about the lack of accelerometer and ?130 with GPS is a good price. I would really like a 10 inch screen, but aside from the ZT180 (which I understand has issues??), I again seem to be limited to rockchip based devices. On the 7 inch side I?m thinking telechips 800mhz, all in the ipad clone casing. Does anybody have suggestions where I might get something suitable? Is it worth waiting for a month or two more for something better to come out ? I suppose you could always say that!!Another question I have is about apps ? if I bought apps for my desire, could I use them on that and a tablet or would I have to buy an app for each device?Cheers, looking forward to finding out more and eventually buying a droidtab.Rob

Hey.Im not the most experience oriented user to answer.I just got my device a couple days ago.But I've researched for months. And asked a ton of questions (which a few regular users could tell you, haha).If you're not a developer, just want to use the thing, maybe I can offer some thoughts?I looked at the same units as you.I bought a 7" Telechip 8902 unit with rom #297 (3 android screen buttons on the right side going all the way down the screen.)This one has HDMI, mini usb, Full size USB, Full size SD Card, Droid 2.1256MB Ram, 4G storageWorking Market, Gmail, Youtube.All working out of the box.I played with it on battery with Wifi for about 3 hours and the battery only went down 25-30%.Very solid. Glass and Metal top. Medium thickness smooth plastic bottom.Seems they are being sold with a screwed on case now. Didnt want that but it's growing on me now. (if you remove the screws and case, those screws hold the whole unit together.)ON ALIBABA... DONT BUY FROM SHENZHEN EBENDA TECH.... they are criminals.. sending wrong things, missing things and Fake memory. At least the Device does work well.Most Apps for Droid 2.1 will work across the board (some a little differently) except for games.Mainly go for what you want most... size, build, type of rom out of the box, Full USB or not.Wits looked good for removeable batteries, but...I like the Full Size USB for extra memory. And that the OS works out fo the box no problems.Still not bothering with 10 inch.Good luck.

Hey guys... DONT BUY where I did. They are crooks.... I'm STILL fighting, and even with a Legal Letter from Kingston Technology (proving fake memory) Paypal will not get involved.Paypal policy is -- if SOMETHING.... ANYTHING arrived, then they don't bother. The company was SHENZHEN EBENDA TECHNOLOGY.Anyway....DANNY-- I THINK the size of the screw is such that if you want you could take it off and put the screws back in... I think they would screw all the way in. If not, you could clip a little off the screws.DJROB --- it is 7". She says she has the no-heat zt180 10", but I'm not prepared to go 10 inch right now. 7" is enough screen for me. Weighed against the added bulk, lesser build materials and portability with the 10"... definitely good. I get a full website on the screen, and you can still click links fairly easy. And I like the keyboard size onscreen.This model has the Full USB, which is what I wanted.I'm very happy. Everything works out of the box.--You will want to remove the case and clean it. Fabreeze it and leave it outside over night.... just the quality of whatever they make and glue the case with.Hope that helps.Don't want an LCD Projector too do you, haha...

zt180's were getting too hot, loosing wifi etc... some manufacturers started puting heatsinks on the wifi module and solved the issue.
