Thanks for the quick reply! So' date=' would installing this overwrite my current launcher (Launcherpro), settings, and apps? Sorry for the newbie questions![/QUOTE'] No, it won't. It will install the stock Home launcher, but Launcher Pro will still be there and you can set it as default. If you don't even want to do that, you can just remove launcher.apk from the app folder in the pack.

Are there any disadvantages to installing the Google experience Pack Alpha? Slowdowns, bugs, etc? I now have my device Id from the emulator, and I want to enable the marketplace on my device. I just want to make sure that I don't make my device run worse than it does now. I have it working really well now! Also, how big is the install size? I don't have much space left after I installed a ton of apps. I suppose I could install a few, but I need to know how much space to leave open. One last question, is it ok to have low disk space? Thanks!

It takes up quite a bit of room. I'd say around 50 megs of space or so. It does slow down the PDN about 15 to 20% in my opinion but worth it to have the market enabled and working. There are a few bugs and occasional crashes but nothing a reset cannot take care of. The most annoying thing is the locking of the screen at boot and other times. Volume up (if hacked buttons) unlocks it though. I am wondering if deleting the default home.apk that the GE installs would cause problems? I have heard android likes about 50 megs of free space to run well. I have slightly over that after installing the GE and some other apps from the market.
Are there any disadvantages to installing the Google experience Pack Alpha? Google Experience doesn't installs into the same place as your downloaded apps, so there's really no connection at all. The space you're referring to is in /data, where as google experience installs into /system.My PDN felt much faster using a "real" launcher over the PDN junk. You're free to delete the Launcher from the GE pack (either before or after install), and it won't affect anything. I just threw it in there for people who didn't care which launcher they had, just to make sure they had one so they could leave the PD apps and access the google stuff.

Thanks for the link!!!I thought people were downloading from Market. Is it now working since your original post (I followed your directions and created an AndroidID for my PDN)? Or, another workaround? All the work to get a AndroidID seems useless without being able to access and download market apps. Is there another way to download from Market sans phone? I just jumped into this in the last week, so if I have missed something I am sorry.mp10

The link to the GD download is no longer functional. Can someone please post a working link. I just got the PDN for my wife's BDay and I'd love to have market place up and running following Clockworx's excellent instructions elsewhere in this blog. Thanks.
