Hi all

I am trying to get information about the tablet below. Like official website with official ROM downloads as well as any custom ROM that would work on it. But thus far, my searches have not sent me in a clear direction.

Maybe it is another brand that is re-branded as RCT before sold in South Africa.

Can anyone sent me in a direction to get more info? Or suggest a custom ROM that might work?

Thanks for reading.

The specs advertised:
RCT-A7 Series Tablet - ARM Cotex A9 Dual Core 1.6GHz Processor, 1GB DDR3, 16GB NAND Flash
7" Digital Capacitive 5 point touch 1024x600 LED Backlighting Widescreen, Front 0.3M, Rear 2.0M camera, RK3066 Chipset, 3G build-in, Wireless LAN 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, G-sensor
Build in Speaker, Mic, Build-in GPS, 3100mAh/3.7V Li Polyment battery, Android 4.1

I bought the Rectron (Gigabyte?) RCT-A7 a few days ago, and wanted to get the software right before I started loading apps and using the device, so I've been trying to research more about it

One thing I have found is that Mecer are offering very similar devices, probably from the same manufacturer:

But couldn't find an identically matched counterpart on the Asian market, nor any other further info on developer forums (it's hard to know what you're searching for when the firmware and branding are so well disguised, and I'm not going to rip a brand new device apart to try identify by components xD)

Anyway, I'm pretty happy with the stock 4.1.1 firmware that's loaded on mine... I just wanted root. So I'm not sure where things will go here in terms of custom ROMS, unless someone is willing to risk their device... but since I got root working, I feel I should share the tools, since I spent hours trying to get this right (almost in vain) and wouldn't want that for anyone else. Tried some of the conventional tools advised for RK3066 such as SuperOneClick, UnlockRoot, SRSRoot, ZhuoDaSHi, none of which worked, until this combination

You may just have to enable USB debugging first (change the developer slider switch to ON to enable all the options such as USB debugging), and install the ADB driver which you can get from the android SDK or a tool like SuperOneClick

I'm curious to know how this works out for you guys, so please post feedback

Thanks for the info, however the link is broken.
I too have bought one of these from kalahari, and I'm hoping that you could mail me the file or perhaps re-host it.
Thanks in advance
