Welcome Zenithink Tablet users!

Thought I'd start our own Social Group on SlateDroid. Maybe we can use this first topic to introduce ourselves, which version tablet you are using, say a little about what you use your tablet for and where you bought it from.....

For questions regarding your specific tablet, please post in the appropriate tablet specific Forum:

Hi, Everyone,
I'm 58, and really want to be a great member of this group, but I'm a novice at computers, and I thought the tablet might be easiest to get used to, so I saw and bid for a used ZT 180 10" 2.1 256 from a gal on Ebay. When I got it, it had some apps, but didn't catch my home's Wi-Fi signal. Since she didn't have the user manual to send, I ended up bricking my unit PDQ. As you see, I'm picking up some of the lingo, but I really need a lot of help if I'm ever going to get on my feet. One goal for me is to learn what I need to know to get it running again, but to do so, I'm going to have to be able to learn about the technology in the simplest terms possible, so that I can build my vocabulary and be able to see the point of what I'm trying to accomplish. If you all would like to help a lady learn the ropes, I'll be forever grateful. Any suggestions about where to find a user manual for my unit and a simplified technology vocabulary list with definitions I can understand will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much, Lou C

Hi call me Jim,

Thanks for the group Om!

Well I have a V1 ZT180 V1.2b with 576 resolution. I've managed to revive it once due to a duff power socket and have added an internal wifi aerial from an AP. I swapped out the original power adapter and power socket. Both of which died.

I'm on the 03/24 firmware. Does all I need and is reasonably quick. Would be nice to have market work correctly (finger is wrong and all work arounds fail) . Mostly its used as a browser and book reader. Would love true standby function.

Hello, I have a V2 512/4gb 1024_600 serial version H ZT-180. I have flashed 0516 version of system.tar.gz and still running kernel of 0325 (or at least I think that's the last time I updated the Zt_bx.spl and ZT_bx.boot)

Use the Pad for WoW Auction house and book reading mostly. Then for learning Android, hacking and customizations.

I bought it off ebay asa a buy it now. for $200.00 and wished I waited till Zoom came out cause the price for the pad dropped to $150.00...
oh well

My background in computers run for over 3 decades but I'm not a know it all techy. Most of my knowledge comes from people like you guys and trial and error. I have programmed in basic (when basis was all there was), C++ (For World War II BBS software mods), Pascal (for no reason at all), PHP (cause I have ran many websites). But I have never programmed in Linux or Android, beyond installing someones mod. Love Linux but until games are supported better I dont think I'd be leaving my Windows desktop.

happy using the current FW on my tablet.

Hi folks,

I don't have one of the listed models in the first post of this thread, however I have just purchased one of the just released Cortex A9 8 inch tablets, the ZT180-8-A9. The specifications of this tablet are excellent with the Cortex A9 processor and an 8" 1024*768 two-point resistive touch screen.

http://www.zenithink.com/Epro_173.html

This is my first foray into Android. I've used Linux as my main PC/Laptop OS for a couple of years now, so hopefully the learning curve won't be too steep.

My main use will be Web surfing, watching videos and maybe a little bit of gaming(Angry Birds). I'll be watching this forum and others for any development on this player for any custom ROM's. As it comes with Android 2.2, I'm hoping that this tablet will get picked up by lots of people and there will be a 2.3 port soon.

So for now I just have to wait until it's delivered.

Hey there, I am a zt-180 v2 user with serial H. I picked it up a bit ago and overall have been happy given the price. This is actually my 5th tablet and the others are all either dead or returned to the retailer. This is the first that I have been happy with.

Why did I buy it? Well really for two reasons. the first is that I wanted to enter the tablet market to see how it would fit in my lifestyle (my 1st tablet) without spending hundreds of dollars and get something with inflexable ios. Since using my first 7" for awhile and really liking it until the wifi melted down on it, I bought this one (I am skipping the other 3 as they are not worth mentioning). I bought it and it has become my primary computing device.

I like a lot about it, but I have 3 major gripes in my opinion: Battery life stinks, resistive screen frusturates my 2 yr old daughter, and a faster processor would make web browsing nicer.
Other than those three, I am quite happy with it's features and warts.

I bought with it one of those leather folders with an integrated keyboard and let me tell you that it is far nicer for a touch-typist like me to have a physical keyboard for long posts such as this.

I have made a few add-ons and modifications:
- Created a 6 x AA Battery in series holder for a portable battery extender (helpful on a 9 hour bus ride to NY, NY and keeping my daughter occupied)
- Found a DC To DC switching voltage converter and modified the plugs to fit the external AC plug on the tablet. It works quite well in the car or attached to any 12v Source
- I removed a 1400mah 7.4v lipo battery and added it in parellel to the internals of the tablet and got a disappointing additional 20 minutes out of the tablet. (I am on and off looking for the perfect (maximum capacity/physical size) batteries to put into this thing without pushing the tablet price into the xoom territory.

Now, a few things that I have been trying to figure out:
- Faster featured browsing -- i hate feeling like I am browsing the internet on a 486.
- Working live video -- one of my major hopes is that I can get the tablet setup somehow so that my daughter's two remote grandma's can see her. I find it annoying chasing her with the laptop and webcam.

Well, I think I have typed enough. Look forward to the forums.

Lance

Edit: forgot to mention. Currently running rom 503 /w the system.tar.gz replaced with 524.

Hi Everyone,

This is the very first tablet I've ever owned. So I'm very new with the whole process (newbie). Please forgive me in advance for any mistakes I may make. I have the Zenithink ZT-280 C-71. I hope to learn as much as possible about this tablet. The SlateDroid website has a vast amount of wonderful information. The knowledgeable experts here are fantastic. From my readings here so far I have already done a successful firmware "n" 1110 update. Which has much improved the tablet. I look forward to learning more.

Thank you in advance for all the help I will be needing,
JD

Hi bought my ZT280-C91 off ebay (and from China) after a lot of research and a very tight budget - mainly for the chance to play around with android and the tablet format. My kids love it and my wife is enthused by the educational apps on the marketplace. Main reasons for purchase was that the manufacturer has a website and also updates the device.
I'm having a few issues with battery life and the playback of some youtube vids - but otherwise very pleased with my purchase.

Hi All.

I've been messing around with my Android phone for over a year and have gone from 2.1 to 2.2 and I'm now running 2.3. It's been great fun. Now I'm looking forward to doing some stuff with my new Zenithink Z280 C91.

Cheers

Hi, I have recently bought a Zenithink c97 from THE big auction site. I'm loving the convenience of using a tablet. I use it to surf, read, keep my photoes to show others quickly ( portability is great) and watch movies. It's the movies though I'm having issues with. Nice to have a forum like this because I'm not the most tech savy.
Cheers.

Hi everybody
I just bought a c93. I was originally concerned with battery drain with stock rom but since upgrading to latest 4.0.3 firmware the tablet is fine. I especially like being able to plug in my 1tb usb drives.
