I just got burned in my Irobot, aka: Apad, aka: Moonse purchase. The Seller stated that it was a 1.2GHz processor (CPU600MHz+DSP600MHZ). I have run two separate test ('CPU Benchmark' and 'Quick system Info PRO' both are free in the Android Market) and found that it only has a ARM926EJ-S rev-5 (v5l) running at 299.00MHz! (I thought it seemed sluggish). DroidBench tells me I am running at 76.296 Mflops/s, I have NO IDEA what this means, if anyone can tell me if this in any way confirms or disputes what the other two MHz benchmarks give me, PLEASE let me know. I contacted the E-bay seller in China about this, but am not very hopeful, about a joyful conclusion. Lastly, just as a reference ARM926EJ-S rev-5 (v5l) is what is used in the Tom Tom One XL GPS. Excuse me while I go kick the couch and cry.

No scam there. The iPad features a:Rockchip RK2808 600MHZ with 500MHz DSP hardware decoding. So it has a basic cpu frequency of 600 MHz and for video playback it uses the DSP so video is decoded with 1.1 GHz.There is currently no Rockchip 2808 that has a basic frequency of more than that.

And how are you sure yours has whats stated? Did you open up yours or use software?

I'm glad you brought that up, mine wont play 720p. I've tried one 720p avi, and two 720p mkv files and I get "Media Error - Sorry, cannot play this video" I am using the video player that came on the unit. If you have a suggestion for a better player, please, let me know. I wish vlc made a player for android.

@Mikeamigevrik has it right. Go into Settings, then into About Device. Check which version of the Kernel you are running. If you're running the Rock Chip version, all is good. If you are not, then you might have a valid claim through Paypal because the device is different than what you ordered. Ebay and paypal take fraud very seriously.

Thank you Donaldson and Gevrik.I did check in settings and in 'About MID', and under Kernel version it does say "2.6.25 - rockchip version 1.2.7 (ruiguan)".I feel much better about the situation already. It is humorous that each answer brings up another question. Donaldson you wrote, "Go into Settings, then into About Device" mine says "About MID" and when I did a google search for " 2.6.25 - rockchip version 1.2.7 (ruiguan) " it brought up the link http://slatedroid.com/index.php?topic=294.0 and his says "About the phone". I know it seems petty, but it would make one think that there are several alterations of the Android OS on these devices. As I understand it the Android OS had to be honed by the manufactures to work correctly on the Apad, iRobot, etc... I imagine that they are all Android Cupcake 1.5.?. But could it be that one has better tweaks over another. Is there a separate alteration for the devices that have no camera from the ones that do (mine does btw) and most importantly to me, is there one that doesn't have Chinese (and chinese exclusive programs) embedded in so many places?

well... it's very common for sellers from China. You can say they are not honest and tricky, cheating customers, but on the other hand, most of them are just sellers without know their products well.I'm not saying that they're right, but, claiming a processor with 1200MHz becoz' it's a chip with CPU600MHz+DSP600MHZ, for them it is a pure mathematics, they may even don't understand what is CPU, what is DSP.Sometimes, sellers will say the battery is 3000MA, but after you got it, you will found that it's only 2700MA, they will said after rounding up, it's 3000MA.Customers in China already adapted to such selling behaviour, and understand that, some of the sellers are tricky, but, even more of them are just selling the device without any product knowledge.Better to read some reviews before purchase. And if you want to try something diffence, you'll need an adventurous mind.

I guess its a different market in china. In america we have laws that protect us from companies making false claims in their descriptions of products. People shouldnt have to get used to sellers false descriptions, if you are selling something you should learn what it is or be prepared to refund the money when the buyer doesnt get what he paid for.
