So I ordered my M001 off eBay on Friday - 92 bucks including UPS 3Day shipping to the US. Patience pays on eBay. ;DI bought this unit primarily as a geek toy and am optimistic that I will get my money's worth. I have some experience with embedded systems and am also pretty savvy with my soldering station, both skills I plan to use on my unit. One goal is an internal 4G Wimax upgrade, as Clear 4G Wimax (www.clear.com) is available in my city and to improve the batteries (got some RC background when it comes to LiPOs). Beyond that, we have lots of apple fans where I work and I am trying to counter-steer a bit with the 'droid.
we also have 4g wimax here in perth australia.People getting like 20-30 mbit.So if u achieve it
well done :)Only thing stopping you is linux drivers?
Clear.com here sells two types of USB devices that could fit into the case - the Motorola USBw 100 and Ubee PXU1900. The driver will probably be best biggest challenge - Clear made some announcement to make source available to the linux community of their drivers, but I was not able to find any more then the announcement. Another option would be a 3rd party wifi usb device that has linux drivers - not sure what the options are and if 3rd party is possible with Clear.

Hi @ all.I was checking ebay again for some toys. Junior (13) is allways into the "hipe" Apple wave. And myself (Daddy) is more looking at my bank account. :
Soooo I found the EKEN M001 on ebay. Checked it in the Internet and ordert 3 units. Around $100 isn't that bad for an ebook reader and to check emails. Junior can still go on Facebook :- and is happy too. We live in Canada and if I order some toys, they arrive on the border normaly in 5-7 days. Only customs is slowing it down to 4 weeks!
Before the Eken I got some iPhone clones and they work really good in Canada. $65 per unit incl. Wifi was much cheaper than an iPhone..... Best regards

Hello SlateDroid!First post - here's my story...I was going to order from DealExtreme, but I've had a bad experience with them in the past (never got one of the items I ordered, and they have YET to even reply to my emails about my missing item), so I went ahead and did some late night eBay sniping and got one on its way for $92.xxVery anxious to get it, as I have many things in mind for it.Interested in: adding more ram, replacing batteries, r00t, droid 2.2, possible camera addon, etc...(am I missing anything?)
which seller did you guys went into for 92USD incl. shipping?
I simply searched for "android 7" and then sorted by "ending soonest."I found one that would end after 11pm PST (so I could possibly out-snipe those East Coasters [haha]), and ended up watching quite a few. The one I ended up getting was NOT a buy it now, so the buyer doesn't matter - it's simply a matter of skilled thought on which ones to bid on (based on the ending time), and getting LUCKY!Not that the prices on some other sites are that much higher than I paid, I just feel that if there's an issue with my transaction, I have enough direct numbers to eBay and PayPal that I'm confident that I will get my issues resolved (at least I have every time so far).

hi therenew here and i just paid for my slate today the price of $96usd with free postage on ebay from ego-2010.My eta is 10-25 days from china to UK.i'm totally new to google android, it's all foreign to me. I've become fascinated by tablet pc's and as my laptop died and i'm mostly a net surfer and read lots of ebooks, i thought this gadget would be an ideal useful toy for me.there seems to be a small booming market opening as i noticed another style of android tablet in black but with 2 micro usb ports for a higher price, and i found out today that acer have a 7" tablet in motion that has an attached keyboard...

I ordered mine from Deal Extreme for 101.74 then the price dropped to 99.90 the next day :'( I'm not complaining though. Tracking say's it being processed to fly out of HongKong to here in the states and the postal service here confirms it in the system... So I cant wait till it arrives
the kinks should be worked out by then otherwise I'll still have fun with it.Edit: left Hong Kong today 28 May 2010 ;D
