Hi. tried this, some info about this rom after trying it for 24 hours:

1: It's pre rooted with SU binary V0.98 (probarbly SuperSU in ghost/autoallow-mode).

2: It's slower than the ICS rom in terms of both CPU/Screen-refresh, no matter what the whitepapers say, in real life hands on testing this rom is slower, slower CPU, slower GPU even though the governor and Mhz are the same by numbers.

3: You can't set DPI to anything higher than 170 in build prop (to get bigger UI-elements without having to use "HUGE" as font size which renders text incorrectly) on this rom without loosing the tablet-statusbar. Anything higher than 170 enforces it to show a smartphone-type statusbar instead, thus loosing all the soft-touch keys aswell (which is a problem on V712 since it relies 100% on soft-keys except for the home-button).

4: Some apps (rooted) isnt working properly, this could be a JB-issue in general, but i rely on ex. using "Samba fileserver" on my tab, which won't work on this rom. Perhaps the WIFI/SMB/port-settings are accessed differently in the backend on JB than on ICS.

5: Since it's prerooted, it's a fair/easy procoedure to remove all the chineese apps with e.x Rom Toolbox Pro (search on play store).

For my part im sticking with the latest custom ICS / JB V712 V2 rom from Valkoz, which is faster, allows for higher DPI in build.prop without loosing the statusbar softkeys.

Another problem I have found is that the wifi does not work correctly.
It seems to be connected but sometimes no traffic passes through. If I switch it off and then on it works, until it gets stuck again.
Cell data process consumes nearly all the cpu, rendering the tablet unresponsive.
Back to 1.5.5 for me.

Thank you Depump.
This method worked! I only had to do this twice(?).
Now reinstalling all apps.
Wifi seems stable so far.
Charging is really slow, I will see what happens after a cycle or two.

ONDA V712D V2 only
Custom ROM based on ONDA v2.0 release

Changes:
  • Deodexed/Zipaligned
  • Rooted (ChainFire's SuperSU 0.99 - free version)
  • Busybox 1.20.2
  • /etc/init.d support (busybox runparts)
  • Most Chinese Apps removed - Any help for the rest is very much appreciated!!!
  • Google Play fixes (xmlfiles: removed handheld_core_hardware.xml)
  • Gameloft fixes (Christian Troy's framework.jar fix: TelephonyManager.smali)
  • Google Apps update (gapps-jb-20121011-signed bundle)
  • Default language set to en_US

How to use:
  • Fully charge the tablet.
  • Shutdown the tablet.
  • Copy ALL the files in the root directory of an SD Card:
aml_autoscript
factory_update_param
ReadMe.txt
u-boot.bin
uImage_recovery
update.zip
  • Insert the SD card in the tablet slot.
  • Ensure that the USB cable is NOT connected to the tablet.
  • Press AND HOLD the HOME button.
  • Press AND HOLD the POWER button until THE WHITE ROBOT appears on screen.
  • Release the POWER button
  • Release the HOME button
  • WAIT until the tablet reboots.
If the upgrade fails, then extract the original ONDA's firwmare (2.0SD) in an SD card and use it to return to original firmare.

WARNING
This is a WIPE installation. Everything in the tablet's flash WILL BE LOST. Backup whatever you need BEFORE proceeding.

P.S. Is there anyone who can help on manipulationg the partition sizes? Say, 512MB for /system and 2GB for /data instead of 1GB each that are defined in original ONDA's ROM?

Please report any feedback in this thread.

I have tested MC3, Asphalt 7 and Need for Speed Most Wanted successfully.

Regarding the battery drain. Can you please set the WiFi to be on only when connected?

Hi guys,
Just a quick question. My home button is actually broken.
Any idea how i would do the upgrade?

MOD:
Just in case anybody wonders, you can use an App called Quick Boot, it is free and it can get you into recovery/bootloader but if your button is broken you won't be able to select any options.
I'm going to get into bootloader and flash this new Rom and I'll update from there.
