I've been considering this issue for some time now. I've added an external antenna to my Flytouch. I get a little better wifi range now. I'm looking into replacing the the Ralink wifi card. The problem I'm having with swapping out the wifi card is installing a new driver. I'm very new to the world of Android and that process is beyond my skill level. I've also tried to back into a solution by trying to find other Ralink wifi cards that can use the same driver. The chip I believe is an rt2070, when I look for a driver for that chip, the file name references rt2870 or rt3070. I've found a couple on Amazon with very cheap prices $10 to $30. If I find something that works well, I'll report back.

[quote name='imprezza86;47518]not yet' date=' simply because the connector for the usb dongal broke so I'm trying to repair it......ooops.[/QUOTE']I can't help with fixing it but I really don't like the way the dongle puts so much strain on the dock connector port.I use a generic Apple dockcon to USB cable for plugging into the computer, and a dockcon to dockcon extension cable when using the dongle. They take all the strain off the connectors and cost less than $10 each.

I've just completed that mod. You have to use a usb dongle that has a Ralink chipset supported by the existing wifi driver. I replaced my RT2070 with a RT3070. It included an external antenna. Range is a little better.Sent from my generic using Tapatalk
