seems there is no update/reply this past couple of weeks,


anyways, i'll assume that you guys hear about the 'Spark' Tablet(if not, google it)
and since its based on c71, a smaller version of c91 with similar, if not the same, hardware.
maybe we...., i mean you guys could ask for a bit of help, kernel, driver, etc...

no harm in trying, plus it should,in thery anyways, speed the port by months.

That's a good idea. I'll do some research, thanks.

EDIT: I posted on his blog asking for help. Let's hope he responds.

Here is my status,

I prepared a sdcard with two partitions one vfat and the other ext3.

On the vfat partition I create a zt-update directory and place a uBoot config file in there called autoscript. The script does fatload mmc 0 82000000 uImage; bootm 82000000

In the root of the vfat I place a uImage kernel.

System boots new kernel and I get linux penguin on framebuffer then and boots into Mer with QML viewer on X.

I'm working from this git repo. https://github.com/hillbeast/Kyorakernel and using the .config from the stock zt-280.

I'm thinking about booting a Mer Image on a ZT-280 C91 (3a), could this approach work on it:
1) partition sdcard vfat + ext2/ext3
2) mkdir zt-update
3) create autoscript
What parameters to use: fatload mmc 0 82000000 uImage
82000000 seems some memory address, how to identify the correct one ?
Maybe uImage should be named ZT280.kernel or ZT280.recovery as in the official firmware updates?
and autoscript renamed to command?

3a) Could it work by placing a ZT280.kernel (with correct commandline built in)
file in /sdcard/zt-update/ with a simple or empty command file

4) build a new kernel: what source?
is this suitable?

I'm asking to gather most information about what has been already attempted
and avoid to reinvent the wheel. Is there somebody actually/still working on it?
TIA for hints, comments, links and critics.

PS.: the tablet is my wife's so I CANNOT brick it....

Hey pippopluto,

First things first, device adaptation is hard, and there is always a change you can brick your device.

Rest assured there are a number of people working on this including me, see http://opentablets.org/

Second the C71 and C91 are close bedfellows so the instructions at http://wiki.merproject.com/wiki/Vivaldi may help, on the other hand you may need a C91 specific kernel.

Try it and let me know how you get on,
