Unmount USB flash drive

Hello,
I have a PDN:
FW v PR71_A_BN_W_A_C08102011
Kernel V2.6.3.4
Android v 2.3.4
OpenNova-Root-Sp0-v1.21-Sp0-update.zip
16GB sd.

When using the usb adapter and a flash drive, the drive boots fine but I can not determine how to unboot it before removing. So far I have to shut the PDN down and restart after removing the flash drive. Any help will be appreciated.

Root it, install a terminal program, and do
umount /path/to/usbadapter

You can find the path to that by typing mount or df.
it works that way for any droid, not just yours.
