Well,my brand new APAD died without warning or reason, just a piece of garbage and a half. Upon opening it, I see the reason why...Masking tape (highly flammable...) holds most of it together, and the build quality is bettered by $20.00 toys.....I cant believe they are getting what they charge for this junk, and I will never be stupid enough to fall for this scam (what else can you call it???) again! MASSIVE FAIL!!!!I've linked to them on the mp4nation site, painful to look at, ain't it

*Lol* Seriously I find the shock in this and the linked thread quite funny. Practically every Chinese product I have even seen uses some masking tape to fasten wires. Even a lot of brand name products do (admittedly somewhat more expensive tape).

Well, you wouldnt find it funny if it was YOUR product that bit it in under a week...thats MASKING tape, not proper electrical tape,as cheep as it gets, and not at all proper for this.I work with electronics all day, every day(I own a few business's that work with computers/PCB's),and if this every passed by me,I would report the company making them...no joke. The fact that they get so much for these, with the shoddy workmanship put into them,is atrocious! No wonder the failure rate on these is so high! The real shame here is that customers will keep buying this crap, and the Chinese will keep pumping this garbage out......a vicious cycle that has no end in site.Only when the bigger names(Ramos/Ainol,etc.)start to make these will we see some improvement in the quality of these pads....cant wait for them to start this in earnest....

That sucks!! :(They certainly didn't keep that board revision long since the MID01-V6.0 came out right around that time too. That's shitty you happened to get that one.
Um,they look the same to me........this is the latest v.3 that just came out with the metal back/red led/9v charger. The back is branded "Robot" not "iRobot" as well.Think your getting it mixed up with another one

Yeah, the thing that surprises me is that anyone else is surprised that this is how the are put together. These things are (comparatively) cheap for a reason. They are not junk, just cheap. It's not a scam, just poor quality control and frankly if you bought one without accepting first the possibility you'd get a dud you were kidding yourself and should have bought an Archos or something similar. That being said, being one of the people that got a dud must be annoying on a scale most forums won't let you articulate!

Well,I definatly knew what I was getting into, and it should have been better built than this....sorry I dont agree with you,its CHEEPLY made, with CHEEP/JUNK parts(crappy screen/crappy batteries,etc...),at the LOWEST price point they could do it for...and that is just plain WRONG for the price they are asking for it. PERIOD. As for opening it up,I used a screwdriver just to open it again for the photos(didnt feel like using the suction cup again...wasnt worth the trouble...it was dead).

We'll just have to agree to disagree then. It's put together exactly how I would expect especially having purchased several other cheap Chinese devices. The price, considering the fact the devices have only just stated coming on the scene, is quite reasonable. In 12 months time if they are still over $100 THEN they are overpriced but for now when it's all quite new the price is very reasonable especially when comparing the alternatives.

want to see a real butchered up soldering job that should not pass any QC?look at this:It is full of smered solderingpoints, even loose cable pieces and was recived by bargun and reported HEREMaskingtape or celotape is not a rare find in sweatshop produced china goods. Hot glue is nearly a sign of high quality

Jeez...I almost feel like I got a Cadillac in a sea of Yugo's...how do you folks put up with this trash?? I did a better soldering job in middle school on my first project xD I guess this is what to expect from sweatshops with no pride in workmanship.Guess it wasn't much different in Korea when they were just starting to take on Japan....learning curves all around.I'll just wait for the better quality stuff to come around,it wont be too long

Sorry Dragon I have already gotten over the shock months ago . when I opened up my 1st apad to take pics and I fell on the floor when I saw how the tablet was really assembled. I almost thought I would just resolder it myself and clean it up but thought better of it . Now my eken m001 is a work horse and has been flashed so many time I don't even need a sd card any more I just tell it what firmware to run but you did get a bad deal .I thought i read you are getting Midnite, im sure it should be better then Apad (quality wise)

The difference with China, unlike Japan and Korea, is in reality due to the size of their population, politics etc they don't need to care what we think, except when specific manufacturers are paying them for specifc requirements (like Apple with the iPad, I expect or at least hope it's better built) they'll do what they please. I hope it'll get better but because of the differences I don't see it happening as quickly as Japan and Korea moved forward. Due to that though you'd hope prices would also stay down.

One can only hope....I do see a bright future for China, though, they at least are trying to be innovative, and thats always a good sign
