1. Introduction
Tablet product tool is only fit for tablet projects' mass production. It is mainly used to batch download firmware to the newly pasted tablet (ADFU device) which is only equipped with hardware environment via USB HUB. In the case of the firmware file support, it will append auto mass production、multi partition image and other functions to ADFU device while it is batch downloaded firmware via mass product tool. Identifying USB port and auto downloading etc are supported (It is convenient for users to improve efficiency of mass production. (Recommend to use) etc.
1.1 Terms and Abbreviations
ADFU
Actions Device Firmware Update，that is the update method established by ACTIONS.
Automation mass production
Time to mass production operation (mass production when you plug the USB cable to the tablet), which you choose to connect device; the other similar device can be also connected continuously to make mass production. When the tool identifies device, the device make mass production automatically; it is no need to connect the next device to make mass production after other devices have been finished mass production successfully. Automation mass production is not influence with other devices mass production.

Format Flash fast before production and then download firmware.

Check out whether the state of Flash is well before download firmware.
Identify USB port
USB port number displayed on the main interface of tool should be corresponding with USB port of HUB、USB cables and the connected devices. The changing of displayed port number's progress bar indicates the state of devices.

Firmware using for mass production
PC（mainstream configuration, internal memory is 2G or above, CPU is above 2.2Hz ，WINXP SP2 or the above operation system, WINXP 64BIT operation system is not supported, self-prepared by user）
USB HUB（mass production by connecting USB HUB, suggest using USB2.0，OUTPUT:5.0V---3.8Amax, USB HUB has seven port numbers，self-prepared by user）
USB cable（self-prepared by user）
3. Installation and uninstall
3.1 Installation
Open the installation package, double click "Setup.exe" to enter setup interface, and complete the setup according to the system prompts.
Note：
ADFU driver will preinstall when product tool install. When you install the tool, "software installation" interface pops up. It is the interface of ADFU driver reinstallation. In order to install and use ADFU driver normally, please select "Continue Anyway" on "software uninstallation" interface. See the screenshot below. Choosing "stop installation", it will stop install reinstallation ADFU driver.
The advantages of reinstalling ADFU driver: After finishing reinstall ADFU driver successfully, connecting ADFU devices to do mass production, it will no need to install ADFU driver any more. And it saves time.
3.2 Uninstall
Method 1：Click [start]->[setup]->[control panel]->[add or delete program]->[tablet product tool]->[delete] in sequence to complete the uninstall.
Method 2：Click [start]->[program]->[ tablet product tool]->[uninstall] in sequence to complete the uninstall.
4. Function introduction of mass production
4.1 Step of ADFU device mass production
In order to carry out mass production operations in an orderly manner, firstly it is necessary to clear mass production steps, and obey these steps to complete mass production operations, please refer to the specific as follows:
Step one: Run mass product tool
Step two: Replace firmware
Step three: Select FAT_MISC zone/SYSTEM zone files, select VENDOR_APK/VENDOR_MEDIA/COPY_TO_UDISK zone in the basis of demands(refers to multi partition image function introduction)
Step four: Connect HUB to PC, and connect both HUB power and USB cables already
Step five: Connect an ADFU device
Step six: Install the driver of ADFU device （The device has been installed already and it is no need to install again.）
Step seven: Identify USB port
Step eight: click "start downloading" or choose automation mass production(recommended use)
Step nine: connect the ADFU devices which are to be batch downloaded firmware
Step ten: Tool starts to download firmware
Note：
If the ADFU device makes mass production at the first time, it will need to operate all procedures.
If the follow-up ADFU devices make mass production, it is only need to carry out step nine to step ten
When the file contents of each partition have been changed, step eight to step ten should be operated.
When firmware file needs to update, please operate step two, then step nine and step ten.
4.2 Function description
4.2.1 Run the tool: click[start]->[program]->[tablet product tool]->[tablet product tool]，if it is the first time to use the tool, window appears as following:
Exchange firmware interface, choose" "button，enter replacement firmware file interface to select the needed firmware.
4.2.2 Functions of tool's main interface, take one device mass production for instance:
一、preparation for mass production: The device has been connected, and the device identification displays blue. When it has not started to download firmware, at this time, "start to download" button is effect and useful. The interface displays as following:
二、mass production：after clicking "download" button, product tool starts to download firmware to device. The progress bar will display percent of download firmware. On the right side of progress bar, there is production time. At this time, each button on product tool shows gray(Useless).Interface shows as follows(Only for your reference)
三、finish mass production: Progress of mass production displays 100%，the quantity of total passed and current passed has update, the connected production device pops up after mass production, and tool displays that there is 0 USB device has been identified.
Note:
Please remove USB cable after finishing mass production, in order to avoid appearing abnormal condition for unfinished download firmware when starting up the tablet.
4.2.3 Purpose of replacing firmware
Why does manufacture replace firmware file before mass production? First in order to make sure they use the correct firmware for mass production; then because different type of tablet needs to replace different firmware.
4.2.4 Install ADFU device driver
Each USB port of PC (including USB HUB), when it is the first time to connect ADFU device, PC will prompt "find new hardware device, it is need to install new hardware device driver right now".
Installation method
Step one: Connect ADFU device, PC will find the new hardware device and pop up "Found New Hardware Wizard" window, see the following screenshot:
Step two: According to wizard reference, choosing "no, not this time" as installation method, then click "next", as following figure:
Step three: On the window of following figure, generally you can choose "install software automatically", PC will search proper current device driver file and install automatically, and users choose to continue installing according to prompt. But if PC cannot search driver file automatically, then it is need the user to assign the path of driver file. Click "install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" on the following window, then click "next".。
Step four: on the window of screenshot below, select to click "contain this location in searching" option, then click "browse" button, select to open the driver directory of product tool installation directory to appoint the driver file. The tool's default installation directory is :C:\Program Files\Tablet Product Tool 5.20\Product\driver（Only for reference）.
Step five: After finish assigned the route of driver file, click "next" button, start to installation.
Step six: on the window of screenshot below, click "Continue Anyway" button to install driver of device continuously.
Step seven: click "complete" button to finish installing the ADFU device driver.
Device check method
After complete installation of ADFU device driver, entering device manager to check whether the device works normally, operations as follows:
Step one: Right button of the mouse click "My Computer", select "properties", as follows：
Step two: On the interface of system properties, select "Hardware" page, then click "Device Manager" button
Step three: On the device manager interface, unfold "Universal Serial Bus controllers" directory.
Step four: If ADFU device runs well, it will appear the figure as follows:
You can program firmware into other four parts as needed.
Three basic file partitions:
1）xxxx.fwu，mass production and start-up files deposit in it；
2）misc mirror image file，where system start-up relevant files(Linux system files) deposit；
3）system image file，system running relevant files(Android system files) leave with it。
When misc and system files do not exit in firmware, you can choose misc and system to do mass production at the same time. When misc and system file exit in firmware, If misc file has been changed, you only need to update misc file, and system file does not need to update. You must choose the programmed partition of check box when it does mass production.
Three unique file partitions:
1）APK partition, where built-in APK packages deposit.
When you download firmware, APK applications will write into the player at the same time. After downloading firmware successfully, you can see the APK application on application programs.
APK partition file only supports APK applications.
2）media partition, where built-in media files deposit.
When you download firmware, media file will write into the player. After finishing download firmware, you can check media file in corresponding module, and media file runs well.
Media partition files are music, video and picture these three files.
3）Udisk partition is a part of U disk partition which files programmed in.
When firmware programming, file programmed into free space of U disk. After finishing program firmware successfully, you can visit these media files in /mnt/sdcard directory of tablet, and media files play normally. In this case, users can delete these media files.
. Other functions:
1. Format DATA partition: after choosing format DATA partition, calibration interface will be appeared on the main interface.
2. Format CACHE partition: Android standard partition.
"FAT_MISC partition"and"SYSTEM partition" only support files with".img" suffix.VENDOR_MEDIA partition indicates music、video and picture these three files. VENDOR_APK partition only refers to APK application program files.
Note:
1. After choosing image file, "format DATA partition" and "format CACHE partition" are two default options. And the other partition function has not been chosen. The partition function will be effective when selecting the check box on the left side of partition options. And users can check the required functions as their own needs.
3. The capacity of misc and system partition would be configured in xxx.fwu. If misc and system image file is larger than the corresponding partition, then it will prompt error when it does mass production.
4. The capacity of VENDOR_MEDIA partition and VENDOR_APK partition is determined on the size of partition file in the first mass production.
A、only mass production: Only choosing "mass production only" on tool, when updated partition of VENDOR_MEDIA and VENDOR_APK is smaller than it in the first mass production, the file in the player will be covered. When the updating partition is bigger than the first mass production, it will prompt error when mass production.
B、erase and mass production: Choosing "erase and mass production" on tool, there is no relevance on capacity of updating partition of VENDOR_MEDIA and VENDOR_APK and the first mass production. Both of them will cover the previous files, and it can do well mass production.
5. Read mass production record
Tool's main interface has the presentation of device connection and total finished devices' quantity. The detailed records of mass production are saved in tool's installation directory as log file. Users can check them by clicking " "button on tool's main interface to open log file.
The log file of mass production records are usually saved in product tool's installation directory, reference as following:
C:\Program Files\Tablet Product Tool 1.00\Product\Product.log
Note:
Mass production records of tool are added up automatically, but they will start counting from 0 when the tool rerunning. So it is no need to open and close the tool frequently on process of mass production.
6. Notes
A. Do not run other program when running the tool in order to avoid interference.
B. lease don't connect U disk or USB devices of other users When running mass product tool to perform mass production in order to avoid interference,
C. The tool is able to real-time check whether there is device connected, and the total connected number and passed number will increase too, so no need to switch on and off frequently. The total connection number will begin from 0 when the tool switches on again.
D. The HUB that connecting to players usually will not make PC shutoff or re-start. If PC shutoffs or restarts, it indicates that some player connecting to HUB has serious error such as short circuit etc.
E. If several USB HUBs are used at the same time, an USB extension cable is recommended for each HUB.
F. PC will prompt "find new hardware wizard" when connecting USB port of PC or HUB to player at the first time, manual driver installation are required.
7. FAQ
Question 1: Whether does it need to install ADFU device driver when connecting ADFU device each time?
Answer: No, it only needs to install when USB port of PC or HUB connected to devices for the first time.
Question 2: Does it need to identify USB port number before downloading firmware to device each time?
Answer: No, it only needs to identify when USB port of PC or HUB has been changed
Question 4: Why does tool cannot detect the connected players, connecting U disk or ADFU device after running mass product tool?
Answer: Before importing firmware to tools, they cannot detect the connection of devices, please import firmware file at this time.
