I'm curious -- how are you all getting along with your touchscreen? Tapping is pretty good (although "e" and "w" on the keyboard in landscape mode requires more pressure), but scrolling is very difficult for me. For example when I tried to change the time zone, it kept selecting the first thing I put my finger on instead of sensing that I was starting to scroll. This pretty much happens every time I try to scroll. I'd say I'm averaging one in seven on getting it to work correctly.The calibration feature is great -- for taps. I realize this is a $100 device and it's a resistive touchscreen, but yikes!Anyone having similar results?

After owning mine for several days, this is what works best for me...I use a stylus for all scrolling. It works much, much better than a finger. Actually, the stylus scrolling is quite accurate... no more 'one in seven', probably more like six in seven!!I find myself swapping between finger and stylus for tapping, and when using the keyboard for speed, both thumbs together produce the quickest results.

I have been using the pen from my Wacom tablet and it works perfectly. My advice would be to hold it down for just under a second first, and then flick.

They sell a bulk of twelve stylus pens for $1.99 including free shipping. That's less than 20cents each! They list them for the Nintendo DS, but they're perfect for the Eken as well.

I've had the same issue. Typing is pretty poor too. I've just learnt to settle with how it is, it'll never be a great touchscreen.

Actually I'm having a lot better luck with it today. I think I was just treating it like an iPhone with kid gloves but this sucker just needs a little elbow grease.

:/ Mines very responsive to fingernail. Responsive with finger tip with slight pressure.

make sure to calibrate the screen, whe i did that it became far more responsive. I also tend to keep my nails a bit longer, if you use a fingernail its crazy good screen, definitely made for a stylus. Its still far more responsive then any resistive screen i have ever used.

I realize this is a $100 device and it's a resistive touchscreen, but yikes!Anyone having similar results?[/quote]I believe the reason is that the screen is Resistive (A resistive touchscreen has two thin layers of conductive but transparent film above the screen, and measures the change in resistance between the two layers due to the pressure of touch) and not a Capacitive screen (A capacitive touchscreen measures the interaction between an electrical signal on a transparent grid above the screen and the user?s finger) Googled.

Use a stylus. I'm using these, dirt-cheap and works like a charm.

I think it takes time to get used to these touchscreens. They're nowhere near as smooth as most modern devices that we're used to, especially something like an iPhone or iPod Touch (which IMO has one of the best touchscreen experiences ever).After a bit of time, you kinda get used to it and the tapping and scrolling isn't too bad.

Thanks for the calibration tip! I thought the top row of my screen was broken until I calibrated.If there is no fix for the speed of the device, I would be happy if the sound volume buttons were disabled and became the scroll buttons instead.For me, the best solution is a flick of the finger nail but still it randomly clicks instead of scrolls.

Since installing EcoTox's most recent stable release, which includes Eken's latest Firmware updates, the touch screen seems much easier to use, seems more sensitive to subtle inputs.

Im Having much the same problems i cant type on my M00 1 for love nor money unless its turned to portrat mode scrolling is a frikin nightmare ive found using the custom firmware in the DL section improved things no end luckily all i ever use the slate for is cheking mails and as a cheap ebook reader for witch it works a charm thanks for takeing time to read this

I didn't have a stylus handy so tried using the plastic clip off a ballpoint pen cap and it works fine.. but scrolling has been driving me nuts in general. Works much better with a stylus.

I make sure to calibrate the screen as accurately as possible first, then to scroll I use the back of my finger nail to flick up and down. It works well. Much better then the fleshy part of your finger.
