I just released TNT R5 which was 4.1 based like last week (kick self...) and then PiPo Release Android 4.2 Stock...

Anyhow, here is R6 now! Big thing to note is that I really tried to get it back to "pure android" which means I went out and dug up (on XDA actually) a 4.2 stock launcher and got rid of PiPo's junk...

Cheers!

First ever TNT Android 4.2.2 release! The M1 is smoother than ever!
-Confirmed faster boot time by about 15 seconds over TNT R5
-Based on PiPo stock 4.2 Chinese Firmware (0425)
-Rooted
-Build.prop modded
-Expanded App Partition to 2 Gb
-init.d support added (untested though)
-cleaned (removed chinese junk, changed language, set timezone)
-Removed PiPo launcher and installed stock Jelly Bean 4.2 launcher
-Removed and updated keyboard and dictionary to Jelly Bean 4.2 keyboard/dictionary
-Updated (from other TNT releases) several apps and added them (ES File Explorer, SuperSu, Google Music, and several others).
-Supersmooth/fast pure Android 4.2 experience

-Changed boot animation
-set default browser start page and Top Notch Tablets paid search. If you hate it, you can change it, but using it is a great way to help support my firmware modding efforts

-Changed background to TNT Logo'd image (I use pretty HD backgrounds though
...)

Been testing this rom and everything seems stable and smooth. Really liking the Android 4.2 experience!

Common Question - Why two gallery apps installed? Is this a mistake?
No, it isn't a mistake. In Android Jelly Bean google combined the gallery and the camera application. However they apparently removed picasa (online google photo albums) support so you can't view your web albums. I also install the old gallery from ICS in addition to the new gallery that has the camera app now integrated so that you can access your picasa web albums. For those of us that use picasa this is a very great and cool thing as the google gallery app works about the best (based on my experience) for quickly viewing your online photos.

Now... if you proceed to ask about why there are two gallery apps installed I will proceed to flame you... (I will ask overly rude and sarcastic questions (or make rude statements) like... how is it that you can flash a rom yet never learned to read? that is quite astonishing... and... boy you have so many posts on xyz forum yet somehow never learned the basic etiquette of reading the first post BEFORE replying on the thread... how nice for you...) you have been warned lol... =)

Kind Regards and happy downloading!

Thank you Roman! I shall flash your ROM today.

Many thanks for your quick implementation Roman. I never thought we'd get another upgrade. It's the tablet that just keeps giving.

I have really been digging the new OS. Things just seem a bit snappier all around... maybe it is placebo affect but honestly I am not getting nearly as annoyed as I used to as things randomly slowing down whenever my email updated. I think google did some real behind the scenes work here.

Placebo or No? I will be interested to hear from others on this...

One quick question...

Where are the multi-user settings?!

http://pocketnow.com/2012/12/01/multi-user-on-android-4-2

Did I accidentally kill that or is it also not present in stock?

I was kind of excited about it...

I have got multi user working on the chinese version (not yours) but you have to enable them

telnet on the tab

su (enable superuser) a MUST have

pm get-max-users This should come back as 1

setprop fw.max_users 4 (can be any number but 4 fits my needs)

pm get-max-users IF all went well This should come back as 4

pm create-user "your user name" ie Roman

IF all works then.....

Tab will now reboot, and you will have a USER setting in the "settings"

Each new user created restarts the tab, New Users can only be created by the original "first" created user.

Hope that helps

Is it just my Pipo or this version really has icons going over the screen? I mean, those icons on the far left are exceeding the screen.

Nope, that is a launcher bug. If you are in one or the other orientation some of the "spots" for apps are out of screen. The launcher was probably built on a widescreen device and they didn't test on something with 4:3 ratio. You can move apps to the visible areas until I am able to procure a better stock launcher for the next release or grab something free from the market. I can probably dig up the Pipo stock launcher also if you would want to revert.

Kind Regards,

Roman

@roman

Did the multi user work for you ?

I tested for a bit and all worked, but pad has been turned off for 24hrs and all users are gone, and the users option in the menu

Any chance you can look into making it "poweroff proof"

It seems as though this is not only a launcher bug, try Dolphin web browser, tabs are only partially visible on the left side also clock is cropped on the right hand side in Defense Zone. Nova launcher is squashed up and dosn't use the whole screen also with Go HD launcher all spaces on the screen are not available.
Can anyone cofirm if these problems exist in original version of 4.2.2.
#13 ·
Well I've got the Dolphin Browser problem back with TnT 4

Thank you Roman. I will flash it when I get back from work. A bit worried about the off the screen icons. Is this something persisting throughout all apps and the 'desktop' or is it just some? (I'm using Firefox for browsing anyway).

My M1 can't even recognize a microSD card with this ROM. It's no biggie, as it was very unreliable before.
The ROM does seem very fast, but I may just have got used to things slowing over time as I hadn't re-flashed for a while.

This firmware is snappy I love it, thanks for this.
About the icons going off screen, mm perhaps a DPI issue?
#17 ·
@roman

I have found this information out, it "should" help with the max_users resetting on power off

any chance you could have a look into it please, for the tablet I think it should be set to 8 (this is a phone mode below)

MODDING
framework-res.apk >

\res\values\integers.xml (change to max users limit. 2 is enough IMHO, but i made it 3 just for fun)
<integer name="config_multiuserMaximumUsers">3</integer>

ROman, thank you so much for this. The tablet is alot faster, but I too am getting the icons disappearing out of screen. Is there a setting for this or does it need to be reflashed when a fix is out? Thank you again.
#19 ·
Much requested "framework.jar" file has been updated to better support some applications (like Asphalt 7)

Is the above mod from r5 not included in r6, hence issues with asphalt are back, or is it not required anymore on 4.2.2?

Wi-Fi connection is totally slow. Maximum speed is 0.5 to 1Mbs. Other devices on the network works on full speed (5Mbs).
On TNT4 wi-fi worked normally on full speed.
