ok well it doesn't have the rockchip which gives smooth video playback, otherwise "rock" would be mentioned somewhere in that firmware name.run the apk i've attached and post your totals, then we can see how it performs.whatever china put on the outside, you have to know what's on the inside.

Well one way to find out what is inside... pry the mother open! :)In any case, the main chip inside is the WM8505, which I am guessing is bad news :(It also appears to have Hynix DRAM and Samsung flash FWIW.I will keep poking around but it looks like I got a 'dud' relatively speaking...

Hello Apadders, I've been using converters (Allok psp mp4, Magic Video Converter) over the weekend, results in my opinion are really very good using 800x448 @ 1200kbpsI have just started uploading and posting some results here, probably in the wrong section though - Sorry.I have been using MvideoPlayer on my iRobot to play the files as its the only one I found which can give fullscreen with most non-native resolution files, although since the vids I'm playing are now of native res these videos play fullscreen when opened in FS FileExplorer !The only issue I have with multimedia on the device so far, is the speaker being awful. Volume on my encodes 250% to try help this.Requests are welcome, or I will just be knocking out some classics. Thanks all.

[quote name='FenceMan;8821]Rotten' date='I dont have my Apad yet but I am working on encoding some movies with handbrake. I think you are right, why try to play 720p movies without a 720p screen.... I am trying to encode in 800 x (keep aspect ratio) with a target size of 700mb, I am thinking for a screen this small we should be able to get a good encode from an HD source to 700mb with pretty good quality, what do you think??[/QUOTE'] I actually have mine. its been about 3-4 days. I took all my .mp4 movies and used handbrake to convert to 700x400 and 39mb setting.

well the assumption is wrong for using the built in player is the best to utilize DSP i tried real player and meridian also both played 720p fine as long as its in mpeg4 with default full screen.Built in player you have to maximize video. rock player is crap mess up every thing wma play back is not good as non of the player can give me video at 720p built in player don't see it at all i would say meridian is the best player till now for local play back and real player is the best for streaming playback as it gives you download option also.don't have a 1080p small video or would check it also really don't wanna convert a full movie to mpeg4 just to test it as it will take for ever to download it
