The Ideal Novel?

I have read in amazement how the knowledgeable ones have modified the firmware, reprogrammed the buttons and more on the Novel. However, it is not clear to me where this all leads or could lead.Could one or more of you who know please describe what the ideal Novel configuration (with the current hardware) would be in terms of firmware, button functions and such?Could you also explain what this Ideal Novel would then be able to do?I would like to look forward to using this Ideal Novel when it is ready.Thanks.

It is like buying an Apple product. The people who sell the Novel only want you to run the stuff they want you to run... the B&N stuff and a few extra bones they throw in. I guess they get some grease from B&N to set it up that way. Okay, I wanted something to run different stuff. I wanted to run the sofware that I chose, not what some guy at B&N thought I should have. For example, I love my Kindle, but it is strangely in Black and White... so I wanted a color device to run the Kindle app... I waited a long time for Amazon to release an Android Kindle app. Why? Because I know the Android is a lot more of an open system, so I waited for the Android app to become available, then I looked at Android phones.... but they require a monthly investment... too expensive for me to pay so much every month. So an Android tablet is perfect. They will come out with more Android tablets later this year, the PDN was simply the first to satisfy my need. Also, I like hacking these devices. When I bought my ipod, that was the very first thing I did, jailbreak it, so I can use it the way I want (not the way Steve Jobs wants).

Sorry, but I think you are making a mistake looking for "ideal." That will depend on the user. You probably don't need the same things I do. The ideal nature of the novel is that it's novel, at least now. We can do whatever we want to it.
Well then, maybe some of you can put on your marketing hat & tell us the possibilities for this platform. You can use the term "poor mans iPad" if you like. Then put back on your developer/hacker cap & talk reality. I am new to tablets, Android & hacking, so help me dream a bit! Give me some ideas for its use, but don't leave out its limitations. Don't want to go overboard with the vision.Cheers, kev
I was not looking for the ideal for all people. Iwas only asking the ones that know better what might be accomplished with this platform. I do not know. I would like to think that better informed people might have a view. Just a request. Maybe no one has a vision of the possibilities.
Let's flip the question. What do you want?

I would add to the 5 items from SpinControl:6. Google Apps: mail, docs, calendar... needs easy text entry7. Android Market apps

You can run every conceivable ereader, at least 2 browsers, a number of ports of youtube and other media portals...You're going to have to lump a little of the load here... dive in and try a few.

I still need to try videos, streaming videos, and gameplay. With limited use (just put all the apks on late last night), I still think that it gets a little buggy (freezing, accelerometer not always working) for some apps. I'm considering using setcpu to see if that helps.
If we can get 2.2 on this bad boy...I would be happy...what is the cpu rated at and when can we over clock it...lol. Had anyone installed quadrant to see what the scores are?Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk

Yes, Quadrant scores have been posted. Hard to say if 2.2 can be put on here or not as no one has been able to make a custom ROM yet.
