TempestU39GT roms are meant to be lightweight, fast and functional. Anything fanciful that would contribute to bloat will not be added.

TempestU39GT roms are also tailored to the Cube U39GT. I personally maintain this rom for this device and this device only. This means there will be dedicated support for this device using this rom.

Note: TempestU39GT Roms have been tested to work and has been hosed down with bug spray. It still may have bugs though. please check post 2 to see if the bug has been listed before posting. Also, please be aware that I don't give a rat's behind about antutu or other benchmark scores. My emphasis is on real life performance rather than benchmarks. If you wish to ask about antutu or others, please create a separate thread.

Features

Read the following. Slatedroid said that I can offer donators small perks as long as the Roms are identical. Donators will gain access to my CWM-Flashable versions of my TempestU39GT Series. Non-donators will not be disadvantaged in any way as they still get to use my TempestU39GT Series which is identical. Both the CWM version and RKBatchtool versions of my TempestU39GT are identical. Only difference is the method of deployment. Donator's status will be awarded to users whom have donated an amount that is not too shabby but doesn't have to be too grand. Donators will gain access to my current form of CWM-zips for TempestU39GTindefinitely. Once again Donation is entirely optional, both donators and non-donators will end up with identical copies of my TempestU39GT.

The process of becoming a validated donator is as follows. Donate, PM me with email. I'll add you to a donator list and PM you with the download link. This download link is for you and you only. No sharing or creating mirrors would be allowed. In the event of a single breach, I will be terminating CWM-zips for TempestU39GT. There will be a zero-tolerance policy.

If you have donated to me in the past, PM me with your paypal user and I'll communicate with you for further instructions

CWM versus RKBatchTool
  1. RKBatchTool ERASES all information on your tablet due to the method of flashing
  2. CWM allows you to keep previous files and settings.
  3. While RK3188 chips are generally "unbrickable" it's usually a hassle to "unbrick" your tablet
  4. When using RKBatchTool, if you accidentally unplug the tablet mid-flash or if there's a power outage, you most likely will brick your tablet
  5. CWM is a much much much safer way of flashing new rom, it's 99.99% un-interrupt-able.
  6. RKBatchTool is a hassle, drivers issue and what nots
  7. It is possible to flash my new CWM roms directly without using a PC (download and flash directly using tablet)
  8. If something goes wrong, flash my CWM rom again
  9. Updates using my CWM roms will preserve all existing data on your tablet.
  10. Simply put, CWM is the epitome for android flashing

NEW: Possible to boot into CWM holding Vol+ and Power button. This means if you're flashing my rom using CWM, there is ZERO change you'll screw up and have to reflash

Changelog

As a rule of thumb, it's always worth upgrading TempestU39GT Roms. I do not post unnecessary updates. If there is an updated TempestU39GT Rom, it means there are enough substantial changes for me to release one. I do not release 10 roms a week, it's pointless its a hassle. I release only when there is a proper need to.

TempestU39GT Hybrid1
  • 2nd Release
  • Reverted to Cube U39GT 1.04 for stability reasons
  • Hybridized with iFive X2 V1.18
  • Comes with special blend of tweaks.

TempestU39GT V0001
  • First Release
  • Based on V1.05 release.
  • Comes with special blend of tweaks.
  • Please read features list for initial set of features.

FAQs
Q: What the deuce? I can't switch apps! I have to press home before I can switch to another app!
A: Yes, unfortunately, this is an issue with Rockchip SDK2.0, there's nothing much I can do at this point of time. I've decided to release this rom with SDK2.0 as the benefits far outweigh this one bug. One solution is to leave the multi-windows option enabled. Another solution would be to use this app called "Sidebar Pro"

Would root be enabled the same way as in timeless v88?
Also, could you please check the tablet ui while pixel density is set to 240 in build.prop?
Hey lambstone

Thanks for developing, It's good to have you here.

I'm trying this ROM right now, looks pretty solid for the first sight.

Right after flashing the rom:
It seems something wrong with root.

Can you open supersu and see if they ask you to install Su?
Can you open supersu and see if they ask you to install Su?
I have already re-rooted it the same way as stock rk3188, so, I cannot check what would be in that scenario without reflashing the ROM.
It is really sad fact, what Google abandoned tablet ui, but pixel density of 240 works a bit better for me than 256 with this ROM. By the way, it seems the problem with offline charge have disappeared with this ROM.

Absolutely the same problem with hybrid1:

Good morning

Thanks for taking the time to build this rom. With the original firmware I had some timeouts errors in applications like GMail, Google Chrome or even Nova Launcher; also MC4 (according to my son) seemed to be a little laggy.

So, I'm excited to try your rom. I didn't use RKTools, instead, I put image.img in the SD card root. The installation was succesful but now the tablet is not rooted anymore. Is this rom rooted? If it is not, do you know how can I root it?

Thank again for your work.

Best regards

I've updated the main post to include a root tool. If root does not work, try using the root tool.

Thank you for your commitment. With the stock ROM i have no fun with it. I hope your ROM will be run better and smoother but the download-link seems to be down. Can you upload the rom again? I am willing to donate ;-)

Is it normal that the U39GT needs much time to boot up (With every ROM i tried)?

Maybe its possible to Change the battery to a Icon with higher resolution? I tried to Change it with Rom-Toolbox but no luck

Are you working on a new version?

Thank you!
