Hi all, need some help...

Got my new T9 from merimobiles today (i say mine its for the mrs
)

At first the unit worked so i tried to download angry birds to which it said it was not compatable so i downloaded bbc news app and installed that. I started looking around the devic and seeing what was on there and when i went into the internet browser the scren became completely un responsive so i hit the reset button.

When i try to turn the unit on nothing happens, i cant get into the service mode either to try reflashing it!

I have noticed that with the unit connected to my pc by USB if i hold the power button down i get a message in device managr about a device with no driver (SP...??) but there are no lights on the unit at all and as soon as i let go of the power button my windows pc plays the usb disconnected sound.

The unit still responds to the charger as normal, ie red light when partialy charged and green when full.

I have read online that this issue can sometimes be resolved by removing the internal sd and then reseating it, does this sound right?

Please help the mrs is about to kill me!

Thanks for helping a newbie.

Hi already at home :)

Well the same thing happened to me with my t9 i was viewing pictures and screen got blank
And it wont turn on anymore.

The good news is that it is recoverable the bad news is that it is necesary to open it.

Opening the t9 is not too hard there is even a video about it in youtube by tasselhof

I recomend you to download the tasselhof backup image in the other thread and the 929 firmware update.

You will need winimage to write the tasselhoff backup image to your microsd.

Once you write it put it back in and t9 will be alive again.

If you want you fan upgrade to 929 i have done it and its very stable.

I will be checking this thread to help you in whatever i can

Best regards
Miguel

Thanks again for your help!

I trid your procedure combined with the steps listed here:
http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/21821-guide-reviving-your-tablet-in-windows/page__p__230206__hl__winimage__fromsearch__1#entry230206

Now when i turn on the tablet the honeycomb android logo appears for about 5 seconds then the screen goes blank with the backlight still on. Likewise, when i go into the upgrade mode it get th 'updating please wait' message for several seconds then black screen with backlight still on.

Hi that thread talks about using an external microsd to start the t9 from its external microsd slot
I tried that with no success indeed the t9 at least has turned on meaning it is ok.

imaging tasselholfs to the microsd directly is the way to go and when it starts give it some time it takes about 5 to 10 minutes to boot for the fist time so it is not freezed.

After that you should be able to upgrade to 929 normally.

When that upgrade message apears its time to plug your t9 to the pc, install the drivers from the firmware upgrade and run the bat files to perform the upgrade. It is important that you give enought time for each step before the next.

I would recomend you document your exact steps here aswell as to create a backup image of your microsd now it is working and perhaps create a zip file with all the used programs for easy fixing this same issue, with you i now know of three cases

Hello, try this

image tasshelhof's
Dont start it but press home + power then upgrade only the bootloader from 929

You should see kind of an improvement in the bootlogo and it should start
With froyo.

Also make sure the microsd card is wiped completely before imaging it again
Format it fat32 not in quick mode or use some hp tool i have seen mentioned to write zeros to the hole microsd.

ok, now that i am in a normal pc, i can write faster and easier.

i just upgraded my microsd card to a 16GB class 10, imaged my working 2.3 directly to it and expanded my FAT32 to the full extent.

it does boot a little faster and is a little more responsive.

i came across what you are saying about it wont boot with tasselhofs image, and it only happened with kingston microsd cards,
no idea why but 3 out of 5 flashes dont work and i needed to wipe the microsd, and then image it again until it boots ok.

i did an "stock 2.3 pre-rooted, with full market support, phone apps disabled and lcd density to 160 4gb microsd image"
its about 600 mb size but i dont have a way of publishing it for other to download an use.

what i would really like is to extend the data partition and the cache partition to have more room to install apps into
the internal storage, util now i havent got any success, if i change any of the first three partitions it just doesnt boot.

other mods i did today is to solder a ethernet wire ( just 1 ) to the wifi module's antena, got much much much better
reception now
, and the speakers wires i opened a hole into the plastic cover and re-routed them away from the touchscreen
and the battery, that took care of the riples sometimes apeared when pressing the screen.

did you solve the touch issue? i think its the very little yellow cable, try re-pluging it.

i'll keep trying anyways.
