I wonder if using a sync cable that has Female USB would allow me to use that port.

Pook is right. To connect keyboard/mouse/card reader etc. to tablet would require different pins that the original cable doesn't supply. You have to make a connector with the correct pinout as no one seems to sell it.

I'm not really saying that, there are only four wires (two for data and two for power) and it's not rocket science to connect them up in the right way. I believe that the M001 software is incapable of acting in any way other than as a slave device.
