Can anyone tell me where to get a stock firmware for a batch 3 crystal? I'm having problems with the screen and it was suggested to flash the firmware.

Kernel: chengnan.tan
Build no: 20121218
Serial No.: 310108g27200

From what I understand the FW linked/discussed here is for a batch 1 and 2 crystal? I found this folder by fuser: http://www.mediafire.com/?n1udo15cib83i is the 4th/last FW the one I need?

Thanks,
Jozi

It's not there... unless you plan to flash to Crystal Clear, which is stock based... using the files from 3ndymion's dump.
Another possibility is TWRP backup that can be found from here: http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/43698-batch-3-variants/page__view__findpost__p__608826
And the third one is one the package that I've made from 3ndymion's files, here: http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/41478-how-to-unbrick-your-ainol-crystal/page__view__findpost__p__553370
It has all the stock files but it tries install boot images too, which might be reason it has failed when Fuser has tried it.
His batch3 might be somehow different that build 20121218, it's a bit older I think... maybe it's better not to use it on almost working tablet...

I don't know if flashing is the best solution if factory reset fixes your problem, as you say in the other thread.
Though it might be the easiest method, if it works... good luck!

edit: typos as always

Maybe you have already solved the problem but here is one more option...

I sliced the batch 3 "update" from my package into two separate installations.
No version checking is done but installation stops for 15 seconds so one can abort it.
For build 20121218 (eng.chengnan.tan) only(?), don't know how earlier or later batch3 versions would digest it.

Just the system files: http://yadi.sk/d/LQPd8gNi35fri

you don't need these but here they are anyway for those with an adventurous mind....

Boot images: http://yadi.sk/d/L36A4AEQ35fww
might not install as have been discussed before... testing needed...
maybe needs to be installed twice? (like fldc's package).

Both together, the system files and the boot images

edit:
flashing twice onda

And if your camera is green after installing the previous then you'll need to install this as well:
It'll install the new boot image and the files that are different in these 121218 builds...

I'm not shure, if I really understood the differences between the stock rom versions. I thought that is always the 4.11 jellybean with different kernel and driver.

What is always the magic in the boot.img.?
@cxz
You have done so much exploration with the crystal. I suggest you open a thread with a headline like 'scripts, fixes and tools for crystal'. There you can put all your awesome work together.
Of course only a suggestion.

I don't even try to understand them...

But yeah, those are about it I guess, kernel and some drivers... and some odd programs and updates...

Those 'scripts, fixes and tools for crystal' can be found from my signature...

I'm not really sure what you mean in your posts but I appreciate the time you put into typing them up. I forgot I had posted this thread when the screen died on me, a firmware/factory reset didn't do anything, I've since got a new lcd and for now I think all is fine.

Could you tell me what your firmware packages are/do? I was looking into Crystal clear before the screen went and still thinking about using it. I need to read up a little on how to do it etc.

They are supposed to be that batch 3 stock firmware you asked about...

The installation instructions for this unofficial batch3 package

1. Download the update zip containing the batch3 system files from here: http://yadi.sk/d/LQPd8gNi35fri
2. Copy the zip to the external micro SD card
3. Start tablet by pressing Power and Vol- at the same time. Then it should enter to the stock recovery mode.
4. Select "Apply update from EXT" (Vol- goes down and Power/Vol+ selects)
5. Select the zip to install it
6. If it gets stuck while booting do the "factory reset" to wipe your data and cache partitions
(Media partition is the internal memory, no need to wipe that)

And depending what you've installed you might also need this package containing the boot images:
http://yadi.sk/d/L36A4AEQ35fww (you may have to flash it twice)

And if after installing it the camera is green then your batch3 is a bit different and you'll need to install this also:
http://yadi.sk/d/nd59pQBF37vY7

Installation procedure for these additional packages is the same...

_______________________________

Please report back how these packages work. Particularly the boot image package. Any error messages? Is the second flash needed?

BTW, it seems that my previous package (see my blog) was ok after all. It's mentioned as batch3 backup at russian 4pda forum.
If I've understood correctly, it just has minor errors in making some symbolic links.
(it doesn't matter.. it just means that those files exist already. Crystal Clear has this same small bug...)
They prefer to use CWM at there...

Hi, thank you so much for your post cxz, I have not a quite good english, but thank to your posts I have again my tablet working right. I used the TWRP backup that you told in the #2 reply, and the update for the green camera issue, and it works nice. I see in your last comment another easier way to do the same, I'll do that if have any problem.

Thanks again. And if you have any questions, i'll try to help. Good bye

Hi renbai! And thank you for commenting!

I don't know if it's any easier, just a bit different. The both methods should work ok, if the tablet is not too bricked...

About 200 downloads* of this new version but not so many comments. (Nor complaints, so the packages probably do their job...)
(*the old "unbricking" package probably has even more downloads than that... )

Now over 2000 downloads of the "new" package ...

Time to time I have bumped into batch 3 firmware packages at other sites,
but so far they have been just copies of these packages on mine...

But some days ago I accidently found this one: http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid=447729865&uk=2989149453

Althought it doesn't really differ from my package, it seems to be official stock firmware of batch 3 b.
It just has the original files of the internal memory included (which explains its size), and
version check which might prevent its installation in some cases... otherwise it's basically the same...

So it doesn't really bring anything new, but confirms what I've thought already...
That is, that there is nothing special about flashing the batch 3 devices (or at least there should not be...
)

Three more chengnan (batch 3, official) stock firmwares.

I found these Dospara firmwares (oddly again) while checking something else.

g06refe2-ota-eng.chengnan.tan.zip (20130312)
http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?uk=3423538841&shareid=542703

20130325晶彩日本(更改休眠安兔兔跑分低).rar
http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?uk=3423538841&shareid=601851

And the already mentioned Ergo Tab Crystal 8 GB Black (IPS)
http://ergo-ua.com/ru/customer/soft/?cat_id=1511&prod_id=1719938&x=54&y=22
direct: http://ergo-ua.com/img/products/1719938/1440192.rar

Just for those having these tablets, better not to flash these to your Crystal...

Now I deliberately found the official stock firmware for batch 3 (a)
http://www.denshop.com.mx/descargas/Sistema%20Operativo/Ainol%20Crystal/crystal%20Marzo%202013.rar

It's now added to my collection of Ainol Crystal stock firmwares at
https://mega.co.nz/#F!Md0jyJCZ!7n_OP5fWSFgiOO61s5jjnA

Notice that the download address has changed! That is why the old yadi.sk links in this thread don't work anymore.
