That's a ridiculous price for a case...my case is a neoprene padded one meant for a Kindle that just has a little flap that secures over the top and was $4 on eBay. I also trimmed a screen protector down to the Novel's size and stuck it to the screen, and it works beautifully. That's about as much protection as I'm going to employ for my device.
