Rooting a tablet

Forgive me for being completely new to Android let alone modding/hacking/breaking/rooting them, but is there a procedure for gaining root access besides flashing the device?I've done that sort of thing in the past with Windows phones and a helping hand from the XDA peeps, but obviously the people on this forum have chinese tablets that aren't very recognised brands or anythingI have a 7" tablet that isn't an Eken but I have seen on a number of sites. Battery goes a bit quick when on WiFi and the screen responsiveness could be better but it does work and having used it for a few weeks there has been no horror stories. It has USB host which is handy too.It's supposed to be a 1GHz cpu but pretty sure it's not! Anyway, thought it would be nice to remove some of those Chinese apps they put on. Any help appreciated.FYI, ran an app from market called "benchmark" by (i think) 'softweg'results:graph: 109cpu: 180mem: 141file: 45i have no idea if these are good or not though ;)

haha, the videos on the page where you bought it are sped up, so people think it's a fast responding tablet :)

Good God, He is right. The video reviews were sped up. That is misrepresentation and it is against the law. Some dob that reviewers arse in!Yes, the Elken M001 is all ready rooted, you can set the access via the settings screen, in the Developers Setting. You may try to look for this in your device in "Settings", near the top I think. My pad is switched off at the moment.

I can review the iPod and say it cures cancer and that is perfectly legal as long as I'm not then selling iPods to cancer sufferers in a retail environment.I only just noticed that they do in fact actually sell these, so that is a fair point Fc_Stains ... +_+

Its faster than the Eken. My scores for a "600Mhz" Eken are below (Apad scores in brackets):GFX:56 (109)CPU: 97 (180)MEM:102 (141)FILE:17 (45)On average double the performance. Perhaps my 600Mhz Eken is only 300Mhz after all....Still, it is a fair bit cheaper, and so far has better support (in the way of firmware updates). Then again, more speed is always nice.....Anyone else want to post their scores? (search for "benchmark.apk").
