THIS ONLY WORKS WITH THE 2.0 VERSION OF THE aPAD (THE ONE WITH A WEBCAM). DO NOT FLASH THIS ROM ON A VERSION 1.0 aPAD (WITHOUT WEBCAM).English ROM 0530update.img http://www.hiapad.com/?p=53&lang=zhDrop.io SDK Flash Methodhttp://drop.io/rk_apad_md01_update_0530ENGNotes: This ROM will not say 0530 after you flash it anywhere. But if your ROM is in English, and you have no Google Pinyin IME in your Keyboard settings, you have the 0530 firmware.

Can someone please host this somewhere else? I could once I have it. I can't get it from the site you linked, because it wants me to install some Windows-only downloader.
It's getting kind of late. I would mirror it but... I'll upload and go to sleep. Going to take 30 minutes...

Someone should just repack this into update.img so it can be flashed easier. If the mechanism exists.

Please report back about this. If not we have to extract the images to find the script that does this on the Archos.
How to update the software of your ARCHOS 7 home tablet1. Download the firmware from this page.2. Connect the USB cable to your ARCHOS 7 home tablet and to your computer.3. Copy the firmware that you've just downloaded to the root of your ARCHOS 7 home tablet (not in a folder).4. Unplug your device safely.5. The ARCHOS 7 home tablet will find the update automatically and display a message box offering to install this new firmware. Before tapping on "Install", you need to connect the charger/adapter DC-IN to your device.Important warning: Upgrading your device's software will reset all your settings (including the WiFi settings) and erase your applications.6. Once the firmware update process is completed, your ARCHOS 7 home tablet will automatically restart. Then you must go though the installation wizard again.
Hello,I've seen that both Archos and aPad have the same kernel but built on different machines (using AFPTool -info). But i've not been able to retrieve to kernel configuration. So is it possible to get the kernel configuration as well as the kernel sources ? The kernel is GPL so any modification made to it should be released as well as the configuration to build it.Maybe we can ask Archos or Chip3c to release the kernel sources and configuration so that we may compile a new kernel. So if anyone could ask him (I don't speak Chinese).

kernel source for Archos 7HT is online on the archos homepage.

Hi,so now I have registriet me so that I can write well.I have previously read by the many interesting articles, myMoonse is on the way, so more I'm looking forward to developing acustom firmware. That's why I uploaded the flasher on my content,so any can download as often as you like.the Link: http://www.rvd-tales.de/apad/apad-flasher.rar
thanks for this xaueious!ill work on putting it in the download section.
Why isn't there an easy way to update the firmware, like HTC does with the update.zip file you just put on your SD card.I'm a Mac user, no VM or Windows available.
Uhm, HTC does the same thing with HTC Sync. Most cooked ROMs are available as update.zip, but that does not come from HTC and you need a custom recovery image to use those.
So yeah, official aPad flashing works like with any other manufacturer.Use Virtualbox to install a Windows version inside of OSX and you should not have any more problems.

You only need to rename them into update.zip to update using the SD-card. No cooked or custom roms. Used this method a couple of times!
.......Use Virtualbox to install a Windows version inside of OSX and you should not have any more problems.
Bying in inferior Microsoft product or download an illegal version to update my APad and pollute my Mac? You must be kidding, right ???
Ah didn't know that HTC provides an update.zip for the N1. For my Hero I have to connect it via HTC Sync to upgrade the official firmware.I'm not kidding. But it's your choice to use an unsupported OS. HTC Sync would not work on OSX either.
I'm in the same boat. I use Ubuntu. Luckily I have a Windows XP license from my old Netbook that I use in Virtualbox now.
