If you appreciate my work and would like to support me with a small donation you can click on button.
If every happy user of this rom would just donate something I could invest more time in all these Android projects.

Issues

* If your device has only a front camera you won't have a camera launcher icon, but you can install this app

Instructions

* Grab TWRP recovery from this thread, unzip it and put uImage_recovery in the root of the external MicroSD card.
* Put rom (aokp_elf2_unofficial_$DATE.zip) and gapps (gapps-jb-$DATE-signed-ubifs.zip) files inside internal or external sdcard.
* Turn on the tablet keeping pressed VOL- and POWER untill you see the green droid.
* If this is your first install flash this file that will format /system, /data and /cache partitions.
* If you wanna wipe internal memory content you can flash this file.
* NEVER flash this two "wiping" zips file posted above if you're using an EXT4 partitioned device, in this case just do a "Factory reset" from TWRP.
* Flash rom (aokp_elf2_unofficial_$DATE.zip), gapps (gapps-jb-$DATE-signed-ubifs.zip) and, the required compatibility zip (and the eventual "MultiUser zip" if you're using a "MU" comp zip).
* Now select "Reboot system".
* Enjoy AOKP!

FAQs

* If you wanna use a USB bluetooth device flash this zip after each rom update (flash it after the comp zip, practically as last file). It supports only CSR devices, they can be identified typing "lsusb" from an app like "terminal emulator": the supported device will be present with an entry like "Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0a12:0001" ("0a12:0001" is the supported VID:pID). Do not boot with the bluetooth plugged in; plug it once you booted to android.
* If you don't like Nexus 7 fingerprint and wanna use SGS-II instead flash this zip. Remember that changing fingerprint may screw Play Store, if it happens you'll have to perform a "wipe data / factory reset".
* WiFi now can stay enabled with display turned off. Note that if WiFi is enabled the tablet won't enter deep sleep so if you're more interestead in battery life instead of an always on WiFi change policy (on "Advanced" WiFi settings) from "Always" to "Never".
* Internal memory is mounted at /storage/sdcard0, external sdcard is mounted at /storage/sdcard1. If you wanna swap them (and make primary your real microsd) just flash this file after flashing rom's zip (you have to do it everytime you flash a new version of the rom and it is incompatible with multi user)
* If you wanna format your internal memory (it's corrupted, filled of crap, etc.) just flash this file from CWM / TWRP.
* It's better if you don't change governor because the included "ondemand" has been customized to support "boostpulse" feature of jelly bean power hal. You can control min/max cpu frequency with display on/off editing these entries in /system/build.prop file (they're listed with their default value): "ro.sys.min_cpu_on=408000", "ro.sys.max_cpu_on=1200000", "ro.sys.min_cpu_off=96000", "ro.sys.max_cpu_off=1008000".

*** If you're having problems with some videos flash this zip (I'm doing some tests with newer video libraries, but seems no too stable right now) ***

* New comp zips for Elf, Aurora, Crystal (non MultiUser): now all devices are using the new audio HAL based on tinyalsa
* Updated some stuff RIL related (some more dongle could work natively, for all the other there's ppp widget)
* Updated upstream sources

* "Reverted libraries" zip has been updated, be sure to fetch it again if you were having troubles playint streamed contents
* Added EXT4/MultiUser for 1st/2nd batch Crystal (it looks like some 1st batch refuse to turn on WiFi, I can't help you without proper source code and some logs)
* New MultiUser comp zip for Aurora / Elf that will probably fix the upside down camera portrait picture. 3rd batch Crystal user fetch the new comp zip and try it as well, maybe it will work on yours as well.
* Some changes under the hood

*** If you're having problems with some videos flash this zip (I'm doing some tests with newer video libraries, but seems no too stable right now) ***

* Support for both EXT4/UBIFS partitions (only Fire running stock 4.2 and Elf/Aurora with comp zip 2.0 are using EXT4 right now)
* Added a SCREEN_DIM wakelock when HDMI is plugged
* Devices running alsa (everyone but Hero, Fire and Aurora/Elf with MultiUser kernel) can disable alsa standby by editing "snd.card.alsa.standby=1" to "snd.card.alsa.standby=0". This will fix latest Skype (and possibly other chat apps) issues, but may lead to some "pops" when the device enter/exit suspend.
* Fixed headset / hdmi "double audio" on Hero
* Many other changes under the hood
* Updated upstream sources

That's why team aokp hasn't released any official build, it's far from being stable, cm 10.1 is far ahead

Is there anyone using AOKP 10.1 on crystal (Old Batch) ?
Thank you for effort to port different ROMs to Ainol devices. Here is my review of this ROM on an Aurora 2.
It works nice and fast and I haven't found any function that doesn't work so far.
New features compared to AOKP 4.1:
- Daydream (Picture slideshow while charging)
- Faster voice search
- Ability to slide your finger over the keyboard instead of touching each key. Very cool!

Missing feature:
- Tablet UI: Navigation buttons are centered now and hard to reach with your thumbs. Bad design decision from Google.

Problems:
- It seems to get hotter than the 4.1 version. "top" shows that "systemserver" always takes about 20-30% CPU. I don't have values from 4.1 but I don't believe it was so high.

The keyboard is still poor compared to the one from CM10.1. It lacks the ability to enter digits by long pressing keys on the upper row. But you can copy /system/app/LatinIME.apk from CM10.1 and use it on this system as well.
The easiest way it to use "adb push system/app/LatinIME.apk /system/app/LatinIME.apk" in the directory you unpacked the CM10.1 zip (assuming a linux system).

I made a measurement of the power consumption now: In 2275 seconds 429mAh were used at a battery voltage of about 3.6V. This results in an average power of 2.4W. During this time the screen stayed on at lowest brightness and the only non-system app running was the terminal emulator. Wifi was on. The values mentioned are from the AXP power management chip's discharge coulomb counter and should be pretty accurate. An intermediate reading taken after 27 minutes gave the same power value. However a shorter test (5minutes) showed a power as low as 1.7W. So take this with a grain of salt.

Next steps:
I will try if the new keyboard works in AOKP 4.1 also and downgrade in this case. Let's hope Google adds a better UI in the next Android version again.

Hi Christian.
I have spent the last couple of days trying to find a good jelly bean Rom for my Aurora II.I have tried your cyanogenmod 10.1 and now this AOKP Rom and have loved both UI's but on both Roms I am getting a lot of screen freezing.Within 2 hours I have had google play freeze 3 times and settings freeze twice.I have installed 2013-01-16 Rom,Gapps 2012-12-12 and Aurora-II 1.0 compatability.I am new to android so please advise if you need more information.I hope this can be sorted as I love this Rom but at the moment it is very bugy for me as was cyanogenmod which was freezing every 10 minutes just with normal use web browsing or using a few different apps.
Cheers

I don't have any freeze, with both roms, maybe it's a third party app you've installed
Thanks Christian. I have just done a complete new install.A very strange thing happened though when I went to install the Rom again,I got a msg "could not find mtd7 and mtd5 file" so install failed.I then installed the latest 4.2 official firmware using the standard boot and all went well so I then installed cyanogenmod 10.1 again and this time using the reset and partition files you have a link to on another thread.All is good so far so will keep you posted.Probably a bit off topic though now I have installed cyanogenmod.
Cheers

Edit : After about 1 hours use it froze while trying to search for an app on Googleplay and then had to do a hard shut down and also voice search crashes.

" just fixed voice search by changing the preferred engine to Pico TTS."
