Funny you should mention the g-sensor patch - it's actually a problem with the Z-axis that I'm trying to fix. Given that, what would be your recommended approach?
It's only one file, the /system/lib/hw/sensors.amlogic.so file, that needs replacing for the gsensor fix (CT figured out the fix, and it's in all his ROMs, Zenithink used the fix for the C93 ROMs that are currently posted)....

May be best for you to try CT's ROMs, as it's a great improvement over Zenithink's old ROMs for the C97...

CT=Christian Troy? I've already downloaded most of the files he's suggested, in preparation for the Big Change... You'd suggest his ROMs instead of the modified C97 ROM you previously mentioned (with the gsensor patch)?

Yeah, CT=Christian Troy...

Yes, I recommend trying one of his ROMs if you want Jelly Bean 4.2.2 on your tablet.... If you want to try a better ICS ROM than what's on your tablet currently, then you could try the ICS ROM.... (There are less problems (like sound issues or how smooth a game plays) with certain apps when using one of CT's ROMs.)

When you say '* Copy rom, gapps and compatibility zip files to the microsd as well.', did you mean into the zt-update folder, or just on the root of the microSD card?

@ fredwhitson

For C97 with AOKP:

http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/76297-rom-cyanogenmod-101-aokp-42-compatibility-zips-for-various-zenithink-amlogic-8726-mx-devices/

http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/42380-rom-aokp-42-for-elf-ii-aurora-ii-crystal-fire-2013-06-29-update/

No need to install anything first....

TWRP recovery will be in the Common download that you need to unrar, it will be in the zt-update folder (ZT283.recovery)....

All other files that you need are zips that should be used/flashed with TWRP recovery....

Anywhere is fine for the zips, but the root of the microSD card would be the easiest to find in TWRP recovery....

Cool - thanks very much for all your help! One final question (I think..) before I take the plunge:

Regarding the comment * If this is your first install flash this file that will format /system, /data and /cache partitions and from "Wipe" menu erase "Android secure"., should I do this step BEFORE I flash CT's ROM? If so, is that Factory Reset zip the ONLY file that goes on the SD card?

Yes, you should do the wipes and flash the factory-reset.zip first, then the ROM, then Gapps, then compatibility zips.... All the files should be on the sdcard....

Thanks! I feel like a complete idiot asking this (you two have been VERY patient!), but just to clarify:

Stage 1: put factory-reset.zip on SD, and flash that (Vol+ and PWR), then
Stage 2: put zt-update folder (extracted from 'common') on root of an empty SD, copy compatibility/ROM/md5sum/GAPPS on root as well, then flash that (Vol+ and PWR)
Stage 3: Enjoy AOKP!

Will Stage 1 clear out my NAND storage?

No.....

Step 1: Put all the files you need on a FAT32 formatted sdcard.... (all zips and the zt-update folder.)
Step 2: Enter into TWRP recovery by having your tablet off with the sdcard inserted and powering it on while holding the Vol+. If you get asked about an spl update, press Vol+ to accept, then it should enter TWRP recovery... Then do the "Wipe" menu erase "Android secure, then flash the factory-reset.zip, then the Rom zip, then Gapps zip, then Compatibility zip.... Then select "Reboot system now".
Step 3: Enjoy AOKP!

Yes, the factory zip wipes/formats the /system, /data and /cache partitions....

So once the initial PWR and Vol+ has been done (with the SD card inserted), all the subsequent Wipe/factory-reset/ROM/Gapps/Compatibility steps are done through TWRP, without any powering off in between? I'm assuming that the factory-reset.zip goes on the SD card with all the other files as well...

Well, I did the deed last night, and it worked out perfectly - you guys ROCK!! Super smooth interface, and the tablet seems a LOT faster, AND the Z-axis works!! One thing seems peculiar though - when holding the tablet in landscape and activating the camera function and selecting the FRONT camera, the camera view portrayed on screen is in portrait mode, and therefore is rotated 90 degrees clockwise... Maybe downloading another camera app might fix this, but everything else is fantastic. Another thing: during the installation, it said that it couldn't find the md5sum file, even though I DEFINITELY had it on the SD card. It didn't seem to make any noticeable difference, at least...

Yes and yes.....

try adding (or editing if the entry is already present)

ro.camera.orientation.front=0/90/180/270
ro.camera.orientation.back=0/90/180/270

I'm curious about 'USB bluetooth is not working right now' in the 'Issues' list when that functionality appears to be available in AOKP 4.2 ROM for other devices (e.g. Elf II, Aurora II, Crystal, Fire - 2013-07-27 update) ...at the same time noting separate download is required to get USB bluetooth to work for those devices. Is lack of USB bluetooth support in AOKP 4.2 for C97 purely a software issue or does it have something to do with the hardware?

;-p

This is an outdated thread, please read here about USB BT dongles - http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/76297-rom-cyanogenmod-101-aokp-42-compatibility-zips-for-various-zenithink-amlogic-8726-mx-devices/page__view__findpost__p__956105

Sorry, I don't know...

What are you looking for? Having the soft buttons align on the left side instead of center, or something else?

Maybe someone else will be able to help you...

yes I want to be left soft keys, and the right to have the time and notifications .

Hello guys again,
I've been away for a long time due to technical problems.
Yesterday, i tried to flash my C97. I put in an sd card:
aokp_elf2_unofficial_2013-07-27.zip
c97-cm10.1-compatibility-1.0.zip
gapps-jb-20130301-amlogic.zip
uImage_recovery (from TWRP-v2.4.1.0-fire_tm.zip)
zt-update folder from (cm10.1-c97-common-20130303.zip)

I pressed vol+ and pwr button and i saw a message at the bottom of the screen telling me "Prepare enter mmc update"
and then i see a "loading" droid. A green droid shows up for a few seconds and then nothing. The screen stays lit and nothing more.
What should i do? Any suggestion???
thanks
