If I were to hack my PDN per Nate's procedure and then decide I want to take it back to "normal", is it as simple as loading the firmware update using the Pandigital website instructions.. i.e. start device with update zip file in SD slot?

Loading the PD firmware will remove all the hacks. You will probably still have data files left on your SD cards, but those are harmless and can be deleted (as long as you are sure what you are deleting isn't part of the B&N stuff).
Actually, I have been unable (I think) to get my Novel to take the upgrade. It still shows 07_05B (White model from BB&
. And, it's still offering me multiple home pages on startup. Considering the update file name, I would have expected to see my version at 07_18B. Can anyone who didn't hack the Novel provide the expected version ID? And, can anyone who did, offer a way to do the upgrade (assuming mine didn't)?

did you see the android unpack animation (android in front of a trash can)? Sounds like you didn't flash correctly. The way I have suggested is to tell people to start the device, stick a paperclip in the tiny reset hole up top (forces full power off), then make sure the .zip update file is on an sd card. Put the sdcard in, hold volume up, then at the same time hold power on until you see the unpack animation. It will blank everything.
MTB, I flash the PD firmware with just pushing the volume button up and power on. My firmware is now shown as "S10_07_18K_PD_INX7E_ENG_6410POP", with LauncherPro default and hacked button successfully installed afterward.
Thanks for the assist. I had previously tried the full power off, the reset button, and even putting in an SD card with just the update file. But, this time I persevered with the power/vol-up buttons. Even then, it took quite a while for the Android animation to come up and replace the Pandigital Novel screen.BTW, I had seen the novel advertised by BB&B. This forum made me decide to buy it over a standard reader. I'm hoping to have tome fun with it. Then, when the real Android slates come out at the end of the year, I'll have a reason to buy one. Thanks to all.
