Hi there,This is my first post here, as I received my ePad this morning; I cannot give a model number or manufacturer as there is no information on the box or in the manual. All I can tell you that it is running Android 1.7.4 ...I bought the device from here : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120589735133&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:ITThe MID I received doesn't look exactly like the pictures on eBay (IMHO, it looks better) : The back of the casing is black, as is the button on the front.
I picked up the package from the post office and took it into work, plugged it in to charge and turned it on ... I played around with my new device for a little while and was impressed with how smooth and fast it was compared to the M001 owned by one of my friends. I was slightly concerned that it wouldn't connect to my office wifi, as it stopped detecting the network as soon as I entered the WPA key.A couple of hours later, I was forced to return home in a hurry so attempted to switch off my new device. I chose the hibernate option by accident, but thought no more of it until I got home ...Can I get the thing to boot back up? Can I hell!At first, pressing the power button would simply turn on the green power light, but nothing else would happen. I pressed and held the power button for 5 seconds to do a hard shutdown (as explained in the manual) before turning it back on.For a little while, screen would switch on, the device would quickly vibrate and then it would display the android logo. The progress bar at the bottom of the screen would scroll through once and stick with the indicator at the right hand side of the screen; this was as far as the boot up process would go.
It didn't take long (4 or 5 restarts) before the device stopped doing that; now I am back to where I was at the start. Can anyone tell me how I might be able to sort this out? I don't want to have a $100 device for switching on a single LED.HELP???(EDIT : It is switching on again now, but it still won't go past the android logo)

in my opinion it sounds like you have a corrupt os or a bad ram chip, or some sort of other hardware failure(maybe try taking your sd card out before you turn it on). I would contact the seller for a refund, if you dont get your money back , since its already bricked i dont think it would hurt to try and flash it with the flytouch/epad v2 firmware.

Ok, I've seen a few bits of firmware knocking around, but I'm not entirely certain which bit to consider installing : do you have a link to the firmware V2 download page?I don't have an SD card installed, so I know that isn't the cause; I only got the pad this morning and hadn't even had a chance to grab my spare card!I just don't get why this thing only starts booting on an intermittent basis now. It worked so well at first, this is really gutting

I would consider this onehttp://www.slatedroid.com/vbulletin/downloads.php?do=file&id=45like all flashes you do it at your own risk.and again since you just got it and it is not working correctly i would say that it is defective and demand a refund. but if you dont want to go through the hassle of doing an ebay return, eeek.my only advice would be to try the above flash, and do it carefully. There is a link to the original firmware that most of these epads came with on a link somewhere in the forums but i dont remember witch post it was.

I have contacted the vendor and I hope to get a working replacement. Once way or another, I am getting my money's worth out of this purchase!I just want to make sure I am prepared should I have to go down the flashing route.I found a link on here that claims to be the original 1.7.4 firmware, but the file is named demov1.7.4.rar & I don't trust a file that looks like it is a demonstration version. Thanks for your help; finding myself in this position without even attempting to modify the device has had me tearing my hair out in frustration!

Well, I got an email back from the manufacturer saying that I can send it back for a refund or replacement and I am not particularly keen on that option as it just pushes up the overall price of what was supposed to be a cheap bit of kit.I think I am going to go with the flashing option, so have started downloading the roms that have been suggested. I have got the 1.7.4 firmware, so I can try to restore it back to delivery spec, should I end up sending it back.I have one question though : how long is the upgrade process meant to take?

Well, I have been through the Eken M001 1.6 "reset", the SlateDroid V2, the 1.7.2 "original" firmware referenced elsewhere in this forum and the 1.7.4 demo version, and they ALL did the same thing ...The text scrolled past during the initial upgrade process and there were no errors displayed. The progress bar then appeared at the bottom of the screen and scrolled through a few times before freezing.Nothing else seems to happen, no matter how long I leave the machine idle.Restarting the pad without the card in brings up the appropriate splash screen for the distro that is installed, the progress bar scrolls for a few seconds and freezes. The only sign of any progress is that the progress bar seems to remain animated for slightly longer than it did before ... WTF???

sorry to hear that you have had no luck getting it to boot. If none of the flashes work then i think it is safe to say that it is a hardware failure. eg corrupt nad flash memory chip. Im not sure if there is any way possible to somehow reformat/bootnuke the chip, or if it even works that way with nad flash. I am attempting to get my epad to boot a diagnostic program that i use on regular pc's. although i may brick my epad in the process, i dont care that much because i got the cheep one to play with. ill let you know if i make any progress. hopefully someone else has an idea to try but right now it unfortunately it looks like you have a brick.

I'm having exactly the same problem.I got my ePad about 4 days ago, and everything was working well, last night I went to sleep and I left it charging (did it the other nights without problems) and when I wake up, I find that the screen is black (the led is green), and if I turn it off, when I turn it on, after the android logo, it goes to black again.I'm looking for possible solutions. I've removed my SD, and I'll try to install a new firmware to see what's happens. I doubt (but it's possible) that it be a hardware failure, as for 4 days the epad worked without a problem. Maybe is something that I installed? I didn't installed too much apps (apktor, beautifull widgets, touiteur, k9 mail, and some games), but remains a possibility.
