i don't know much about rom cooking, sorry if my question is stupid :)we have an official update for this device, so we can extract drivers? why can't someone take a standard 1.6 rom and implement those drivers in it? i know 2.x isn't possible yet because rockchip hasn't provided a driver for the cpu for 2.x (or something like that), but why not for 1.6?can someone clarify this for me?

Would it be "possible" to use a Android version newer than 1.5 on these model(s)? I have not cooked a ROM since Windows Mobile 6 and I have not ever done one with Android. Thought maybe it would be possible to pull a ROM from a Android Smartphone and repackage it with the APad drivers from the 1.5 ROM. Anyone had any luck?

[quote name='saltinbas;8671]Hi' date='128 MB iphone 3G can run froyo android. I have tried it. So 128 MB is not the problem I guess[/QUOTE']I'd still say it's gonna be a tight fit - Even on good old HTC/T-Mo G1 with 192 MB it's prpbably just possible. 2.1 took a lot of shoehorning to squeeze into G1. And I think we'll have to wait a while no matter what. AFAIK, source for AOSP 2.2 isn't released yet.

Dont trust all the sellers on aliexpres etc, they dont realy know at all what they are selling sometimes, if there are not at least 3 to 4 other sellers of the same product on this platform its just a scam. I know persons here in Hong Kong say it hast 2.2 Android on it they evern quote pads with 1.7 android etc. The original Group of persons who hacked the 1.5 Version is on the way to hack the 2.1 Version to be able to run on Apad and the release should be somehow in June or July, But Hey there is still no code for 2.2 awailable to download so how you guys think they can sell them already. Just for info its KIRF and Shanzai producers who are making this Pads so dont belive everything you see or read. And i know some are planing a APad based on a telechip with 500 MB ram, which may can run 2.2 Android but give them time..

2.1 or 2.2 might be possible if we enable SWAP using a portion of the sdcard memory. If the mytouch 3G with 256 MB of RAM can/will run 2.2, i am sure an aPad will be able to. But i wonder how hard it would be to solder a piece of ram onto a motherboard, lol idk if its even possible, would take some made hacking skills tho.

The aPad is already using a part of the NAND Flash as a swap file. The Rockchip cpu in it support a maximum of 128MB of memory (in the preliminary draft paper).
well if its already running swap, how big is it? if its already running swap and its this laggy with 1.5, judging from the videos (i dont have one yet), i dunno how it will handle 2.2. but then again, 2.2 was designed with performance in mind. so it might work better wit 2.2 than with anything less. who knows.

IIRC,it's 64 MB swap. If that could be rerouted over to a swap partition on the SD card, those 64 MB could be put to better use, but then again, if the Rockchip supports only 128 MB ram, it's a pointless exercise. And I suspect all of these kind of tweaks depend on when/if we find out how that check sum in boot.img is made, so changes can be made to it.
