I already posted about it in the Generic devices forum, but posted this topic here because some people might not read the Generic devices forum and its seems like something Pandigital Novel user would be interested in. I know alot of us bought the Pandigital Novel mainly because it was cheap and we could pick it up directly from the stores, this device seems along those lines.http://www.slatedroid.com/vbulletin...-Augen-Android-tablet-onsale-at-Kmart-for-150

Many thanks - I might have to look into this one. Very curious on how it compares to the PDN.

The tablet is in-store only and most stores either don't have them in yet, or have sold out and are waiting for new shipments. If anyone gets one, can you please post a review. I am trying to get one so if I am successful, I will post a review myself. Good luck.

Interested in how this compares to the Novel as well. My BB&B hasn't gotten their Novel's in stock yet. I would be getting a very good deal on the Novel, but if the performance is much better on this it may be worth it.

I didn't since it said "Augen "The Book" Kindle clone" and "Review: Augen The Book (video)" or the titles of the articles.I haven't been to KMart to see it personally. Just going by the pictures and links I had previously seen.http://www.best-ereaders.com/2010/07/21/kmart-stocking-a-90-reader-augen-the-book/http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_...augen+the+book&sLevel=0&prop17=augen the bookThey all say Augen The Book. What's the difference?
"The Book" is a sub-$100 eBook reader running linux. The Gentouch Tablet that people are talking about here is a $150 tablet running Android.

Just curious, review says that it can be used in sunlight. Is this a transflective LCD screen?

How do the specs of this device (Augen) compare to the Pandigital Novel? Does it have more ram or a faster processor? I know the Pandigital has a higher resolution screen with a nice 4:3 aspect ratio (better for reading).

We don't know yet, since no one has one. Processor is most likely a Telechips SC8902 at 800 Mhz. If that is true it is the same CPU family at a higher clock speed, so it will be roughly 50% faster, CPU-wise. If we somehow get lucky it will be a Cortex or Snapdragon CPU, but I doubt it at that price. The RAM should be about the same. The PD Novel shows 200MB, but it probably has 256 and reserved some.

The Augen is listed as 800 mhz and 256 mb of ram. I was wondering since I couldn't find any info on what the Pandigital has (Ram + speed).

First reviews don't sound too promising. 600 Mhz CPU and not very responsive screen. It's also just a clone of another tablet, though I can't remember which one.

Someone who actually has one ran a CPU test and it came back 600 Mhz. Normally, I'd go with manufacturers specs, but between the CPU test saying 600 and it being a clone of a 600Mhz tablet, I'm gonna say they goofed.
