just about decided on a 7" HSG-X5A Telechip MID. From the thread and reviews, they seem to be stable out of the box. And if you get a newer batch, have MArket & Gmail pre-installed.However, just saw a long youtube review of the generic ZT180 with the new custom 0804 rom and it looks very stable.is anyone able to offer a hands-on comparison?Basically, which is more functional as a Web researcher and Video player ?(feel free to offer pluses and minuses)Thanksps- besides the zt being a 10 incher (grin)

It is stable from what ive done so far. Some apps do not run on it that run on 1.5. I am not sure if this is a polishing of the os issue or a version issue however

rockwaterhey...actually it's your review i was talking about ! 8) it's what is giving me a second look.i can get both units for around the same price. both are Droid 2.1 There is talk that the X5A can go to 2.2 eventually.They seem to be 2 different approaches. Though I'm reading some stuff saying the Telechip is DUAL like the old Apad Rockchip, that the X5A has the Telechip 8902 (720mhz) but also a 550mhz (i think the number was) Video processor. I can't confirm this though--not sure if the 10 inch vs 7 inch is a big thing for me. This is mostly a bedside item, so stability and performance is big.Especially if either one can Multi-task better. Do both still need Task-Killer, does one have more responsive screen... etc...

There are two model telechips 8901 and 8902, 8902 is dual one core for apps one core for dsp. The telechip would prob be better for video and 3d gaming, I do not know if the telechip brands have an accelerometer inside. I plan on doing another video within the next hour or so demonstrating wifi and a few other apps and how well the accelerometer works.There are sellers on Aliexpress now offering the zt180 for 180bucks US including shipping I have no idea how reliable some of them are but if you find a reliable source for that price your getting a good deal. I managed to get mine for 193(213 - 20 Aliexpress coupon) After playing around with it for a day or so I cannot complain. The only issue I could see thats if it were a more expense item is that the quality of the lcd does not hold a candle to the ipad.

I have both devices. I haven't really started playing with them yet but out the box the hsg-x5a seems better in quality and stability. It doesn't have a gsensor and since mines is a earlier version i don't have the market and gmail installed. (if you find a rom to upgrade it let me know). The zt180 touchscreen seems smoother but its very buggy. I haven't upgraded to 0804 yet but will try it out soon
