so wut else does this on do will we still have google apps? will the market work? or is it a buch of crap we dont need?
No, this will still remove google apps. You will have to do the processes as stated before to restore them, and fix market. This fixes the FACTORY reset options, adds VOLUME, BACk, AND HOME buttons to the Notification bar. And it has a different calibration program. CPG

I noticed that also that tc8900_mtg.img isn't in the bat file. Anyone try adding it to the bat and performing the update? Thought I'd check before attempting it (after copying the clockwork recovery from the 8/19 update patch so I can do the update for the update).

Could try unpacking the .img file... I admit that I still haven't gotten around to looking at how this is done for android devices, and won't be doing it myself today anyways as I'm to head out for a while...maybe tomorrow if someone else doesn't do it or augendev doesn't pop back in to explain...the filename would seem to imply something to do with the onboard flash maybe... as it contains the MTD ref... (memory technology device which tends to imply flash driver...)maybe they made another mistake in re-packaging it...

Its a combining of BOOT/RECOVERY/SYSTEM images in one file (Thanks to LincKraker). Looks like one for writing to a blank device. Linc is checking it out now. I had found the program before for writing to TELECHIPS devices, (Used on the SmartQ v7) also.CPG

I, too, assume it is the Menu button but it and the Back button do not work properly for me. Home and the two Volume buttons work but when they do so there is a brief flash of the Notification bar dropping down. It clears and the Home and Volume buttons do what they should. The Menu and Back buttons, for me, drop the Notification bar (just the bar, not the whole window) where things freeze for a few seconds. The bar then disappears but the Menu and Back functions never activate.

Or was for "testing"... who knows...

@tipstir: i don't think the YouTube problem is caused by the update.zip. YouTube works for some people and doesn't work for others whether you've run an update.zip or not. if you could post a logcat of what happens when you run it we might be able to figure out whats causing it to shutdown right [email protected]: the tcc8900_mtd.img file contains all three img files. the mtd.img is for flashing a blank device. the program used to flash it(FWDN) can also change partition sizes. which is important to us because some people have a teeny tiny /cache size (5mb). the way we've gotten around the small /cache problem is a custom boot.img that doesn't mount the /cache partition but creates a symlink from /data/cache to /cache.i bricked two gentouchs yesterday playing around with it (yeah i made two runs to kmart yesterday) there are some settings that need to be just right in FWDN and i just don't know what they are. if we knew how to use FWDN then we could actually fix the small size of /cache and possibly the mac problem.

Thanks for all your efforts linckraker. (Good thing that your KMart had some in stock, which is my fear w/experimenting too much with it ATM... )

I also wanted to say thanks to linckraker and ask for a little more help. I ran the official V2 update, reflashed clockwork, and ran linckraker's pirate update zip. All is working great except for Market. I had not gotten around to doing market fix, and I'm stuck on step 24 in the wiki directions. I have the emulator running and I'm logged into the market in the emulator. No mater what directory I type the command adb shell sqlite3 /data/data/com.google.android.googleapps/databases/accounts.db "select * from meta"; (c:, or c:/android/tools, or any other) I keep getting "device not found." I cannot get adb to recognize the emulator. As a result, I'm cannot get my androidID off the emulator. I'm probably doing something really simple and stupid wrong...but I can not figure it out. Other than the market, device is running great. BTW I love the pirate boot animation. Any help would be much appreciated.
