Hi folks! This release is based on Christian Troy's PMP5080B mod version 2.0.0... thanks for the work you do Christian Troy!

ICS Light changelog:
Total available application install space is just shy of 1GB.

Removed default Launcher and replaced with Apex Launcher
Removed a large number of default applications, reducing memory footprint.
Added Pandora, Moon Reader, Dolphin Browser, HD Wallpapers, and Root Browser.
Changed boot image, using default Android bootanimation.

Apex Launcher is nice and smooth, and you get a lot of additional customization options that you don't have with the default launcher.
If you want to install the Chrome browser and try it, go ahead, but it seems to have some force close issues. Thus why I included the Dolphin HD browser.

I would recommend installing QuickPic and Skype from the market.
I've removed the default Android photo gallery app, as I've never really liked it much anyways. QuickPic is much better.
Skype and the camera both work perfectly. (Tested on 4x Next8P of varying hardware revisions...)

I would have included these two apps, but they were giving me some trouble when I tried to.

IMPORTANT NOTE!
Device connects in MTP / media player mode if you connect it over USB to the PC. If you have a MicroSD, I would recommend doing any file transfers using the MicroSD and a card reader.

Thanks devmonkey. I will give this rom a go. Much appreciated.
#3 ·
is it stable or like the original 2.3?
#4 ·
This is REALLY stable on the 4 tabs I've tested. But YMMV...

no matter what ics rom i use i get alot of freezing in random places i read that you souldnt have an sd card in when flashing the rom so i tried it seemed to have less freezing but still does it. i went back to the old rom based on samdroid 1.13 by devmonkey (ran it for about 4 days) with no freezing. i cant find anything about anyone else having this problem, what should i do? and are you working on anything new that i can try soon

In all honesty, I think you may have some kind of issue with the internal flash. If I were you, I might try returning the device for a replacement... but you'll have to convince them that there is an issue.

why would it work with the stock oem rom and your old one just fine but not the new ones. if it was the internal flash wouldnt not work for anything...

My point is simply to say that it may be device specific and an RMA for a new device might give you less headache overall.

I sometimes have freezes if there is a lot of activity on the flash, like installing or updating a large number of apps at once. Otherwise, it runs very well.

i wouldnt be able to get another one if i wanted too i got this one as a gift that someone else bought and i dont have proof of purchase.
i had ics running all night last night on clock with no problem but as soon as i do anything that needs graphics it freezes like drawsomething or live wallpaper it freezes...

i would've returned my nextbook if it wasn't for this rom

Devmonkey, I really like this rom, but I was wondering why netflix wasn't playing. I tried this rom as well as Christian Troy's two newest ics roms, netflix will load, but wont play any of the selections even if i try to skip ahead, I just tried your Mar 24th rom and netflix works fine. I was hoping you may had some ideas, thanks

Hmmm... haven't tested Netflix since it is for my kids. I don't have an answer at the moment. I will have to test it later.

crackle works fine, I saw another post somewhere(can't remember where) about modifying the build prop, but i acidently closed the screen, before i could bookmark it

The only thing I have noticed on this build and the previous ICS builds posted is I get strange, garbled text on a few apps (i.e.: netflix, wattpad, etc.). The text looks normal on email, FB, browser. Thoughts?

hey, Presto01, were you able to have netflix play? i had the garbled text as well, the tv show or movie would load, but never play, even if i skipped ahead

Actually, no it doesn't. Just assumed it did since it made it to the selection screens. It worked two versions back. I also said the browser text was ok, but while viewing this thread from the tablet, much of the bold text such as where our user names appear at the top of our posts is garbled; however, the actual posts themselves look fine.

I have seen the font issue in a few places, and I suspect that it would be present even in the OEM release, as I didn't change anything in regards to fonts.

Prestigio released another update on 4/6, which I haven't tested, but I wonder if some of these issues were addressed.

I am downloading the update now, will check if i can get netflix to work(if it has the play store)

I feel very confident you did not do anything font wise. I imagine it is in your source since your last version before the ICS releases was spot on and I had no issues with the different textual applications I normally run. Like i said, it seems to only affect bolded text or text that appears in response boxes (i.e.: Do you want to quit NETFLIX?). Everything else looks absolutely normal. While it is ugly to look at, the overall functionality and 'nice to have' factor of ICS is worth it; however, if you do run across something in your dev/testing, I will be happy to have it right. Rock on devmonkey! Fine work.
