So I just got my brand new EPAD and I am having touchscreen issues and wifi issues. When I touch the screen to launch any icon / application, the input just goes to the screen that says "no Service".. I think the touchscreen is not working properly at all. I did search and could not find any information on how to fix this. Can someone help please? Please note I can plug a mouse in the USB port and use the tablet..I did flash the ROM to 818 (latest) and that went smoothly using help from here and XDA-Dev site.I am still trying to figure out the Wifi disconnects.. Wifi comes on and then a few seconds later it turns off... I am reading some posts that came up on search.thanks,Dan

One more update.. no matter where I touch on the screen.. I think the touch screen thinks I am tapping on the bottom right side of the screen (when the tablet is sideways (Back button is to my right). For example, no matter what I tap on the screen, I always go into settings if the bottom bar is up on the home screen. If I am in the settings, no matter where I tap, I can only click on search. This sucks. The tablet has something hardware wise loose or wrong. Any help?? Maybe something I can fix by opening it?Let me know...

Assuming the rom update went correctly and that it's the correct rom for the device. It should not behave that way. Double check that it's the correct rom, flash it one more time just for luck, triple check your flashing the correct files to the correct places. Check out some of the review links, that's how it should work. If it's not then it's possible there is a loose connection somewhere but I thing you would probably be better off sending it back than to disassemble it.

MRH.. thanks for your response. I contacted the seller and she is going to have me work with one of their engineers sometime soon to resolve this issue. I am pretty sure this is a hardware issue. The touchscreen is not working like it is supposed to, and is absolutely not useable. I have tried different versions of ROM's and even Windows CE. I can use the mouse and the tablet runs all the applications fine (except for crappy WIFI, maybe because I use WEP in my home network).True test of all of this is to see if the Seller will resolve this issue otherwise I have a $200 brick. So far I have faith in Elissa Gu (Seller) and she has been very responsive, so I think she will resolve this quickly.

Andyy, It is not an issue with the ROM or flash. It is absolutely a hardware issue with the touchscreen not working. I have tested 3 different ROMS and it is the same with every ROM. I can use the Tablet with a mouse, but cannot use it with the touchscreen. All ROMs were flashed properly and were working fine.

And my saga continues. I am still waiting on a replacement or something concrete from Elissa Gu as far as taking care of this. All I have so far is a bunch of assurances from her but nothing concrete that assures me she is going to really fix the problem with the tablet. Recap - I received a bad tablet from Elissa Gu. It came with a nonworking touch screen and non working wifi. :(Purchase with caution from her at this time. I understand that there are going to be problems with bad hardware etc.. but these issues should be taken care of quickly. I will post once she resolves my issue and update the timeline in my post. Unfortunately, I had a friend place an order from her a day before I received my tablet. I hope he does not get a dud like mine too. Still not sure how an engineer is going to get a hold of me and walk me through fixing this issue over the phone. So far I have not filed a claim against Elissa with Paypal for a refund but by this time next week if the issue is not resolved I am filing a claim for refund.

Just a short note for all those trying to use WEP with a password and are having problems - give up! WPA works fine with a password. WEP is a 5 year old standard that I am told can be cracked within 20 minutes using fairly standard cracking software. I have not found a way of getting my zt-180 to work with WEP. WPA with a password = no problems. I tried again with frimware 0827 and still no go on WEP with a password. I console myself with the fact that WPA is supposedly far superior. Ok Ok I know that I will get flamed on this and rightly deserved to be because I am sure there is a whole camp out there that likes WEP. If some one has WEP working with a password please let me know how, what version of firmware and what version of motherboard please. I have tried a1b2c3d4e5 and A1B2C3D4E5 and the same variations with spaces ie a1 b2 - please note this is not my actual login although I did reset my router for a bit to this code to check to see if it works. I then tried WEP without any login on my router and it connected fine. I can login in with my wii and my mobile phone using this code under WEP with a password to my router with no problems. Best of luck Dtembe. Sounds like you have a dud resitive screen. Kind Regards Wayne

It's thread-jacking like this that makes the search function less useful. If you are having issues you should post a new thread.

Kind Regards Wayne[/QUOTE'] I long pressed my access point (wait till it turns white) after it scanned, and then told it what type of connection it was (automatic is the default), seemed to work after that (running 0827 ROM), but I didn't have this problem with previous ROMs, just the 0827. But you are right, WPA is better encryption, but I have no need or desire to upgrade my router right now.
