Ok so I got my M001 today and unpackaged it, played with it a few hours, and now it will only show the locked screen, when I press menu I get this : the process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly" Now I went to Best Buy and bought an SD card and downloaded firmware 1.9.0 (crap removed)M001_1.9.0 (crap removed) - Downloads - SlateDroid - The BIGGEST Android Tablet Forum on the Web! and put it on the SD card. I put the SD card into the M001 and pressed power. And it just booted up like normal. So I need some help. I'm not really computer savvy when it comes to reformatting had drives and whatnot, so I could really use some step by step help on this one.

I did exactly what that page said, probably 3 or 4 times now with a few different firmwares and it still is just booting up like normal. I followed that page to the book, but it never did the upgrade sequence, it just goes straight to the robot and then the flashing android screen, then the locked home page. I'm at a complete loss to be honest. Is there something I'm missing?

Since your downloading firmware that is not correct and trying different ones, I assume you have not read completely before you brick the unit.Find the latest firmware in these forums under downloads. Format sdcard with fat32. Download 7-zip (freeware) of the web and install it. Extract the firmware using 7-zip.Put the folder that says script on the sdcard. When you restart the unit make sure sdcard is in all the way, they have a tendency to be a little off. Now plug in your unit and reboot. I had no trouble with 4 units. DO NOT STOP PROCESS ONCE IT STARTS WRITING FILES just let it run, it seems that people that use winrar and other compression programs brick their units because these programs do not extract files as clean as they should and may add a bad character to the script that will kill a unit.Anyway, Most everyone here has been updating without problems. there is no substitute for reading a lot first so your unit is not bricked by one little item you may miss.Hope you enjoy your unit they are handy.

Jmmyt,I did everything you said, I thought I had it figured out, I had been putting the entire file on the SD, not just script. So I put script only and still no go. But I did figure something else out. In between the popup window(like 2 seconds) I kept poking at the top menu, battery, home etc. For some reason I was able to pull up Fring once or twice, and I also got this message
The entire time the SD Card was fully pushed into the slot. I don't know if this helps, but it appears now it might be a problem with the SD Reader?

Some people who flash multiple times then start having problems have had success in flashing to the CE ROM then reflashing Android ROM. (and vice-versa)
Yeah its been known to help sometimes. Also with Debian it helped to have Windows CE on the device instead of Android.

The M001 will look at the sd card when it boots, then once it finds a SCRIPT folder it will execute the files in it.So put the script folder in the root of the sd card then snap card in to unit all the way, then power up the unit, and it should go right away to flashing. But make sure unit is plugged in and charged up as well as using the proper script here and extract with 7-zip.If it is not doing it then you have another problem. To me it sounds like sd card is not formatted properly with fat 32 or making good connection.Jimmy T
