Well I been testing all sorts of apps the past two days since I got my Novel. This is what I have come up with. Most of the apks I have taken from my Nexus One just to make sure they are up to date.https://www.box.net/pdn-android-appsI am looking for people to help to add to this list. Space and bandwidth is no issue so we can load it up with all sorts of working apks. Just contact me so I can give you access to the folder. Here are some of the apks I recommend. I do use all the apps uploaded currently but these are just the main ones I am recommending.
- Adobe Reader - It does a great job displaying pdfs and it pretty snappy BUT doesn't do bookmarks or index listing as far as I can tell.
- Advanced Task Killer - Great as long as you don't abuse it. These type of apps can actually make you android device worse if you "free memory" excessively. So create your ignore list and set an auto kill for every few hours.
- Aldiko - A MUST!! As long as your books are in epub format
- Amazon Kindle - Nuff Said :-D
- aTrackDog - Nice app helps me know what is out of date. It can also update apps if the developer has their apks listed on their website.
- Dolphin Browser HD and the Add-Ons - 2.0 was slow but 2.1.0 seems to have sped up a bit and with the addons like Adblock Plus web browsering is much easier on the Novel.
- eStrong File Manager - Powerful file manager does local, network, and ftp browsing. Running swiftp on my nexus one and grabbing all the apks without having to use a computer is just awesome.
- LauncherPro - This home launcher is actually the best one I have used. ADW and Panda were both very slow. I have managed to setup LauncherPro with the bare minimum settings and it's damn snappy!
- Opera Mini - Fast browser but bare minimum.
- Paperdroid - Love this app! Syncs Read it Later and Google Reader accounts. Truly shows the power of the Novel as a reading device.
- SlideScreen - Google Home replacement syncs with twitter and facebook as well as other services. It looks good on the Novel but I tend to lean more to LauncherPro. It's my 2nd best though IMHO
- Smart Android Apps AudioManager Widget - Gives you easy access to the volume controls of the Novel.
