Hello Fellow Slaters.I'm now the proud owner of a Witstech A81-E. (got it by DHL a few hours ago)!!!!AVOID THIS SELLER LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!!Bought it from: Wholesale-Google Android 2.1 Tablet pc 7'' WITS A81 E Wifi MID UMPC HOT!!!!AVOID THIS SELLER LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!!He cheated me, was supposed to send 2 batteries and a car mount, got one battery and no car mount!!! he has stopped responding to mails now!!!!Ordered it on: 10aug 2010Seller Shipped it on: 16th aug 2010reached me(In India) on : 18th aug 2010My order is incomplete though, havent recieved an extra battery and GPS car stand i had ordered!!!! Seller is a CHEAT!!!My device came with Android 2.1, i am planning on updating it with MNS's Android2.2_0809_Themed version.first comments:build quality feels nice. feels real nice to hold.the touch screen surface seems like a plastic layer on top of the screen, its quite sensitive and a joy to use though.Hope it lasts..device heats up a bit when charging..not much though..Buttons feels solid. all 3 buttons working.(Home, Back & Menu)Power button with built in Led charging indicator.Earphone and power socket similar size, so watchout, don't hook up power to the earphone socket BIG DRAWBACK: Looks like some proprietary USB slot

or maybe a USB OTG slot..no converter supplied..Will contact supplier about this...other users who have this device please let me know what kinda USB slot do u have??? thats it for now..will post a full review with pics and vid, after the 2.2 upgrade..Cheers!!!

Thanks for the review! Ive ordered an A81-e as well and am looking forward to it arriving in the next week or sne question, have you tried the video playback on your device? One thing I would like my tablet to do is playback 720p .mov files that my sports camera records, tho im worried now that ive read on some sites that the A81-e only plays back 720p videos that are .264, do you think you could test this?

Perhaps try the free big buck bunny files:Big Buck Bunny ? DownloadOr if you can from Vimeo, heres a sample video from the camera that I have so that would be the best test if possible!Test 720p ContourHD on VimeoBasically the camera seems to record in MP4 .mov files

Installed the new rom By MNS, The themed version didnt work though..will check video playback and get back..Cheers!!!

I thought it was a mini USB port with an OTG dongle supplied. You seem to be missing a few things.

It isnt a mini usb..havent seen this kinda usb before...and it hasnt come with any dongle either...other owners of the product kindly tell me what u got..i have seen some kinda dongle in the pics on the sellers website, but didnt recieve any...Hmmm wondering about the sellers credibility now...

Yeah, its just a standard mini usb. My camera, and cellphone, and PS3 controller all use it. It's really common. My A81E came with a small dongle that has a standard usb on the other end.

)looks like i got served..many missing items...waiting for the seller to get back to me..didnt recieve a few things i paid for even!!! AAARRGGGHH!!!Video Playback:not playing 720p..480p is a breeze GPS module on it is shite!!Havent accessed the internet on it yet..full review up soon!!Cheers!!

Hi thanks for testing the video, shame about the 720p but the manufacturers are still rapidly releasing updates so hopefully that will be fixed. What player did you use? As most reviewers have mentioned using xyflash or rockplayer.Hopefully ill be getting mine in the next week or so, order with JTShop is still "processing" tho so not sure how long it will take!

Oh also you say the GPS is shite but did you give it enough time to lock on the first time? As i understand it the first time you use it it needs to work out where you are and that can take 5-10mins!

I am using the supplied GPS Test Application The GPS works, but not well.. have given the device ample time to register signals. It pickups upto 12+ signals sometimes..the SNR is quite bad though.Any good GPS Apps u can recommend??when it works well, its pretty accurate ..i got a signal that is accurate upto 4 feet or so the app says...cant verify this though..Looks like an external GPS antenna mod is required Will work on it after a month or so..My device is still Shiny new heh he..
