Must-have apps for SmartQ T15

Here, I have compiled a list of apps which I feel should definitely be there on ur tablet.

"Titanium Backup" is a must on tablet. I haven't written about it in the list below as I've made a separate thread for it as a Tutorial on how to make backup of all apps & data on ur tablet HERE.

1. Launcher:

Stock ICS launcher is good & smooth, but it lacks customization options such as setting up rows & columns as per ur own choice; resizing widgets & many more other options too.

Therefore, u can install a launcher called "Apex Launcher". It offers many customization skills & is very smooth. You will be able to find it in Google Play market easily. Just install it and then when u press "Home" button, it will ask u to choose between 2 launchers to be set as default. Set Apex launcher as default & u're done with it.

2. Music:

I'm using Google Music app, but not the one which comes with the SmartQ firmware, but a different one which is much better. Find the .apk file in attachments below. And put it in ur microsd card & then with help of ES explorer, navigate to ext_sd folder where u have put .apk file & install it. - View attachment Tubemate & Google Music.zip
This app also has a desktop widget, which I've put on my Home screen to access to music easily.

3. Video:

Stock player is not that bad, but I would recommend DICE player or MX Player (Both apps have Pro version too). Try them both out & keep whichever u feel is better for you. I kept both.

4. ChainFire 3D:

This app is used to make such games run on T15 which are optimized just for Tegra or Qualcomm. What this app does is emulates ur tablet as Tegra or Qualcomm depending on which plugin u choose in app's settings & then u can play those better graphics games which are optimized for other tablets on ur PowerVR GPU powered SmartQ Ten3 T15.
I've shown demonstration of this app in Part-3 of my video review.
Also, I've made a tutorial manual HERE.

5. ES File Explorer & ES Task Manager:

ES File explorer is a MUST whenever u have to easily navigate to ur microsd card to any folder to open any audio file or video file or to install any .apk file from there to ur tablet.

ES Task Manager is a very good app for frequently killing all apps before u switch off screen of ur tablet & put it on standby mode, or if you feel that tablet is lagging, then just use ES Task Manager's desktop widget and press on it & in one click, it will kill all running programs which u might not even know are running & consuming battery & RAM; thus slowing down the tablet.
The widget also shows how much RAM is being used up. It's really good app & I use it very often whenever I use the tablet to keep it running efficiently.

6. Documents Reading:

For documents, I prefer pro version of "Documents to Go". This app is like Microsoft Office Pack to open all kind of formats from word to pdf files. Also, it will let u edit & create new ones right on ur tablet.
I've demonstrated this app in Part-2 of my video review.

7. Youtube:

For playing youtube videos, it's better to have a native app than playing them on browser. You're not going to have same experience when you play them on browser as on the app. It's much smoother on app.
I use "Tubemate". It allows you to play on even higher resolution than official "Youtube" app found on Market.
I've attached .apk file for Tubemate in attachments. Just install it & it's ready to go. - View attachment Tubemate & Google Music.zip
I've demonstrated this app in Part-2 of my video review.

8. HD Widgets:

This one is useful to have nice looking desktop widgets. I use it to have weather forecast & current weather on my home screen. I also use it to have a widget which locks & unlocks screen rotation with one touch.

9. Advanced Wifi Lock:

This app makes ur Wifi connection more stable by avoiding it to get disconnected when ur Tablet is in standby mode or screen goes off due to inactivity etc. Just play around with settings to make it works as per ur needs.

10. Custom Keyboard:

I prefer not to use stock Android keyboard as there are better ones out there. I like personally "Swift Keyboard". It's a paid app, but it does good work also. You can check it out by googling & seeing pics & videos before u decide to buy it.

11. Browser:

Stock browser works fine. But other ones I can recommend are Dolphin Browser HD & Opera Mobile. Dolphin Browser HD has good performance with Flash sites as well. And it offers good customization options too.

12. Some useful widgets:

I have few other useful widgets such as:

- Lock Screen: As it's name, it lock the screen & switches it off with one touch. It's good to have so that u avoid over-using the hardware button. There are many widget apps for same purpose, but best one is the one with "orange lock" icon on it. You can also notice how the icon looks by checking one of my video reviews.

- Battery widget: Displays current battery right on the Home screen. I prefer to see it there than to always touch on bottom left of screen to see how much battery is left. There are many battery widgets in market. You can choose one which u like.

- Reboot widget: Does exactly what the name says. It restarts the tablet with one touch. It's good in sense to avoid over-using hardware button. Again check my videos to see how the icon looks. It's green colored icon on my home screen right besides the battery widget.

Again superrrr !!!! Lot's of good app tips!!!

My first Android as well so needed some guidance.
Great list of apps, thanks Sumit.

Can I also add Quickoffice Pro HD as an alternative pdf viewer and general office program. I have tried a few pdf reader apps and not many deal with large pdf magazines very well e.g. PC Pro or T3 which can be 140Mb and 180 pages of graphically rich pages. Quickoffice is still my preferred app and also remembers where you were with each magazine.

Cheers
Jez

Hi Sumit,

I wondered if you would mind trying a free app on the t15? Would be interested to hear how it sounds on the speakers.
It's pretty tinny on mine
It's Caustic 2 - you don't really need to know how it works just let the demo play.

Thanks

I installed Caustic 2. After opening, it was playing some tone by itself, which was on normal volume as any other tone would sound on that level of volume. It's pretty audible on T15. Then I played those piano keys too and they're also finely audible.

You're right. This app - Quickoffice Pro HD is more powerful than "Documents to Go" which I suggested for all kinds of documents, but the price of QuickOffice is also too high. So for those looking for a cheap alternative, but still a good app, then "Documents to Go" is more than sufficient.
Anyways, I installed it.
It's nice.

Hey that was quick! Yes you are right about QuickOffice being expensive but I got it free with another tablet.

Glad to hear that Caustic works well, thanks again

Hi again,

Actually I just removed Vplayer & will put another much better player in OP on top.
I tried few of the best players which can handle HD playback well. I have one video which is 1080p video (Full HD) and I wanted to see which player can handle it smoothly so that I don't get irritated.

I tried:
-Vplayer
-MOBO player
-MX Player
-DICE Player
-Rock Player Lite

Well, after testing all of them, I just kept 2 of them : MX Player (Free version) and DICE Player (Paid version). Both work pretty well. Rather DICE player works best out of all of them. You can choose between MX player & DICE Player urselves after trying both of them. DICE player has a free version too, so try that first & if you like it, go for Pro (not really necessary to buy though..I am not sure what extra advantage it will give..
)

Did you guys download all these apps directly from the Play Store or did you get them from a torrent or a website. I'm really interested especially in the games:d Any help would be appreciated now:p

P.S. Do you guys need an antivirus? Should i get a free one from the market?
The best app ever
