People have installed a number of apks. I have pandahome on, with kindle, tapatalk, and a few random others. people have the maps working, synch contacts working. You can get it for $100 with a little looking. I really think the pdn could supplant the M001 once someone gets buttons installed. I may email Pandigital some... "suggestions" about the next gen of this device. Like, buttons, cases, camera...

Depends on alot of different things, JIT enabled / disabled, FW version, etc. Running the 2.1 build under development I could easily score 7+ and I'm sure some tweaking could get it around 8-9, so it's not dismal but the Droid has a considerable advantage from a hardware standpoint.

For my WPDN on v.2 board, with roebeet's alternative 8-20 FW and no JIT, I consistently get about 3.1 MFLOPS.Up until recently I had JIT as well, which brought the linpack score up to 7.8-8. I reflashed to 8-20 without JIT because JIT broke kindle :-( JIT did seem to make the device a bit more responsive, but I didn't do any hard benchmark, and now that I'm without it I don't think it's deal breaker (for me).JIT also brought the quadrant score from 210's to about 230-240. Given the doubling of linpack, this suggests that PDN's main bottleneck is with graphics -- consistent with the fact that I got the same FPS for 2D and 3D tests with or without JIT.I'd be curious to know what tweakings HaTeX had in mind that could improvement the linpack score -- and whether or not it could improve the day-to-day usage of our WPDN (running 2.0).
