My Cube U39GT stopped working (won't boot) and I took it to a technician who said that the motherboard was broken

He could not find a replacement but he said that if I find one, then he can substitute it.

What type of motherboard does the U39GT use? Would a slightly different one work?

Not to question the knowledge of your technician (ok, I really am), but I'd question him on why he says its the motherboard. DId he check to see if it was just the screen? Maybe a loader error? Maybe any of 100 things, so why did he say it was the motherboard? Secondly, if your replacing the MB, you better be replacing the other hardware too, or you won't even come close to fixing your problem. Mostly, the cost of the MB and labor that this guy is going to charge you would be over the cost of just getting a whole new one.
