Got the German Smartbook Surfer update off their webpage (someone mentioned it was there on another site)...http://www.smartbook.de/Content/service.aspxIt installs the same way as Augen updates... Latest is from 8/24.. And its a bust.. They are behind Augen even.. Nothing really different at all.. No buttons in the Notification bar.. HDMI settings are there in the settings menu, but without the HDMI out they are useless.. The Camera app also loads, but no camera (Surfer has one). I will let you know of anything else of interest.UPDATE: Power management on the Surfer firmware doesnt work for the Gentouch78, wont charge correctly, and just dies after a bit of use without being plugged in.CPG

well now the nice thing would be to see a smartsurfer opened up and see if the guts match at all

well if you solder the augen a hdmi port and use the surfer update, it might acutally just work

Well, he doesn't have photos back sides of the surfer. I'd esp like to see whats on the other side of that daughter and fuller pictures of ALL the boards.Anyways, what max speed was your CPU at w/the Surfer fw?

Should be 600Mhz @ 800Mhz with v3L I get 660MHz @ 800MHz

as long as the kernel is the fw is th elimiting factor in CPU frequency...(grabbed from the actual product page as I wanted what they claimed...)And tipstir, do you ACTUALLY get 660MHz or are you just guessing? e.g. checked /proc/cpuinfo while the GT is under load?

the newest SmartQ V7 Firmware (Android 2.1 final 2) contains a Application "TV-Mode" to set up HDMI Settings. Can you try if the smartbook with Augen ROM can utilise this app to setup the HDMI port?

I don't really get what you are asking here...Like I said, the Surfer ROM has settings for HDMI output, but since the GT78 doesnt have the port, they do nothing.. CPG

Under SetCPU it shows 660MHz.
