Hello all,I hope this is not too much of a noob question, but when I bought the PDN it came with printed instructions on how to re-seat the internal memory which is just a Micro-SD chip. I was wondering if it would be possible to simply buy a bigger card, transfer the files and voila, have more internal memory? Thanks all,Bryan dPS - really great work everyone is doing here! Keep it up.

Thanks all.I searched "replacing internal" and it only found 2 threads about batteries. Good to know that we can change out the internal memory though. Can't wait to see what other neat things you all will be doing with this toy. :)Thanks again.Bryan d

try micro sd card or sd card. Hundreds of posts. Seems the internal card is only for data on the PDN native apps - the rest are on the Sdcard... for now.

And for the internal micro-sd card speed is important. Get a Class-4 minimum, and faster if you can afford it. Meritline.com has been running a deal on a Class-10 16GB card for $30-40. The merchant is reputable and the price is really excellent. Plus this price isn't dependent upon a mail-in-rebate, so you aren't rolling the dice to get the deal. The card manufacturer was A-Data if I remember correctly.

Okay, I give up - where is the internal SD card, i.e., how do you access it????? I have the white PDN - can you upgrade the internal on it?? Help - just got it and hacked it but also found out the new firmware wiped out my library!!

It doesn't do much for you to replace this card. Only the Native PDN apps use it. Other apps such as Kindle, etc. want to see an external SD card. The apps are still stored in onboard memory (not the internal sd) and we don't have that much of that. You are far better off just putting the largest SD card you can afford in the external slot and forgetting about the internal slot, unless you plan to use the native library app and download half a million books.

there is an external SD slot, I mistakenly assumed that the internal card was the system RAM (i.e., the hardware chip the PDN used while running the system and apps). Of course that's not the case.
So I agree with jackbox...for most users it makes more sense to use a fast external SD card rather than bother upgrading the internal microSD card. -Matt

[quote name='stoic;26569]Is it normal to have to remount the external sd card after boot/reboot?Ive replaced the internal ' date=' but i didnt set the volume name, it seems ok (2gb i taking up space).[/QUOTE'] Yeah, I probably should have noted that I have a Class 6 4Gb card in my external slot, and anytime I reboot, connect/disconnect USB, or insert the SD card, it takes about 60 seconds to read!-Matt

Hmmm. So there's 1. Onboard Storage 2. Internal Storage (Stock 1GB) and 3. External Storage? What's the size of the onboard? What's the purpose of the internal then?
The system memory is 256MB. The internal storage is for EBooks, Music and Pics used by the Novel apps. SDcard is needed for other apps that you install after hack. If you ran out of internal storage the Novel apps will also see the SDcard.
