Sorry new user with an EM73, purchased on EBAY as 'New 7 Inch Android 2.3 A8 Tablet HDMI Capacitive Screen'.
I had a new micro SD card but when i installed it, it didn't sit correctly and now appears stuck in the tablet. I've read a few other sites and found this has happened to others so i think what i need to do is remove the back case that will enable me to get at the SD card so i can try and put it in properly. I noticed in this discussion you have to remove the back cover

----
B. very small/fine flat head screwdriver and if possible plastic tool (both tools found on the net where they sell nintendo ds or wii hack mod tools)
K here goes..take your time !!!!!
1. take off back cover with tools mentioned above
----

Can i ask before i attempt, is there a good place to start (i.e. the other end to where all the HDMI/SD/POWER bits are or on the long side where the home/menu key is?
I don't want to be over forceful and end up breaking the case. I've seen other tablets where you have to take the front screen off to get to the screws to undo, i take it this tablet isn't like that and there are some little clips that you need to use the above tool to get the back over.

I am sorry to bother anyone but, apparently I may have bricked my coby kyros MID7015. I have followed the unbricking method to the best of my ability. I am not sure if I am touching the right points but, if there is anyway that somebody can please send me some pics of it being highlighted where to touch or to tell me what I am doing wrong then it would be greatly appreciated. I am worried that I may have left myself with nothing but, a useless item from which I did like at one point of time. Thankyou and I will await your responses.

In response to my own question, i managed to get the back off, i purchased an iPhone tool kit off e-bay (couple of quid) and slowly worked my way around the back. I started on the long side without any buttons(but the way the back is on it doesn't really matter which side you start on as the back has cut out groves for all the buttons connections). I just took it nice and slow and levered up the one side bit by bit then moved around to the smaller side of the tablet, in short there isn't any glue and you put something very thin between the back and the outside rim and then lever the back up, it is held on by very small clips and none of these broke off. After a bit i then pulled it up with my hands and it came off nicely. Problem is i couldn't get the SD card out as it has gone behind the circuit board and gives it a nice little rattle now! Haven't really got the know-how on getting under that and the rattle isn't a problem unless I'm shaking the unit.

Something good to know to those who cannot get it to recognize the NAND. The box may be greyed out and the unit will not powerup(blank screen). I was having the same problem. To solve this I changed the usb cable and it fixed everything. Now I have GSOB 2.3.1 on coby kyros mid7015. Apparently it was not bricked as I originally thought and tearing it apart was a complete waste of time.

I wrongly loaded the v2.3.3 lk.rom on top of a functioning v2.1 installation without the other files (as one does when reverting to v2.1) and entered the "no power-on" condition. No combination of reset, toggle switch and/or silver button forces any kind of boot. The procedure here will connect the Kyros 7015 to FWDN & report "boot load complete" after doing something, but the Kyros doesn't stay connected to do anything further, including recognising the NAND. Changing USB cables had no further impact. Does anyone have a further step?

-----------------------------------------

UPDATE: Found I needed to hold the "short" and power button throughout the entire reflash procedure. The "5-seconds" was not enought. Worked great! Thank you.

I used firmware from other forum (for loading other OS), but instruction on this is correct... it is lacking few though, so I decided to drop in few tips I did got from other forum, and what I had to do to fully get it working:

#7 (and #9) In case you're getting some sort of strange "no boot found" error, try holding Power and Home together. This enables writing mode always, looks like. For me it did anyhow.
You can flash tcc8900_mtd at the same time as data.fai. I had different image, however, and I also flashed some different boot image with it too.
This does not wipe your recovery partition, so if you can access Recovery (i.e. has ClockWork Recovery) try accessing that first. Will save you lot of time and frustration.

On really old computer flashing took about 5 min total, so pretty quick job imo... but read the instruction throughly. There's also video of this on Youtube. (I'll find it and post it here; video is not perfect either, so read this and use it as supplement, I'd say)

Hello: Need some help. I'm new around this matters and I've put a wrong nand to my EM71 using FWND. Trying the shorting 7&8 pins solution makes Win XP recognize the device but as disks without format (click on them shows "Please insert a disk into drive" ), FWND does not show any kind of messages. Can some one help me ?

step 9 - FWDN will display 2 popup windows to show it found the device and the boot sequence initialized.

The right Unknown box should change automatically to show Nand and the size of it.

If it does not do this, check that the Telechips tcc89xx vtc driver shows up in windows device manager...

also you might have to go through the steps of shorting again and hold the short and power button for a little more this time.
In my case, Telechips tcc89xx vtc does show up in device manager, but the box at the right still shows Unknown and will not display the size of NAND.

I assume FWDN needs to display the size of NAND first as a requesite to reformatting it per your instructions, but I'm at a loss as what to do here.

Is there anything else I'm missing so I can format NAND?

Thank you so much for any help I can get.

Hey all, First post!

I have a MID7015 that I think I have bricked while trying to upgrade 2.3.3. I tried the solutions in this thread with only partial success. I can get the tablet so that FWDN recognizes the tablet, and get to where the the telechips device shows up in the USB section of the device manager but the NAND section of FWDN stays grey. The main issue seems that FWDN will not recognize NAND.

I've tried:
switching the USB cables.
Shorting pins 7&8 while starting ans well as though the flash process.
I've tried FWDN versions V7_v2.13 and V7_v2.09

I believe I've tried every combination of resetting the computer and the the tablet.

Any ideas?

I managed to get it unbricked by jumping two pins. My computer recognises it. When I start flashing it with files I have, error pops up as shown in the video. I noticed the problem is "lk.rom" as the same thing happens when I use only this file..
My tablet does not show ANYTHING on screen, its blank.
The drivers ARE installed.
my problem is explained in this video

Hi

I am Brazilian, and not a native English speaker, and ask for your pardon for any errors in my message.

I have a Coby MID7015. I tried to update its firmware, and it stopped in general.

When I press the power button on, I do not get any lights to indicate its working, and when I connect the 5v charger and press power button the screen turns black and the word "Coby" lights up in white.

No other thing happens until I turn all off.

The reset all button in the tablet back side changes nothing.

Is still possible for me to get any help about it in this forum?

I have a very limited knowledge on computer subjects.

Thanks for your attention.
