The freedom that the galaxy tab has given us to view and listen to media anywhere at any time is of prime importance in today's incredibly fast and mobile society. However the world of media is not perfectly compatible yet and while CDs can be converted to Mp3s easily enough, how to put DVD on an galaxy tab is not as simple.

The process of converting DVD movies to a format that can be used on an galaxy tab is not installed within windows media player but must be done through third party software. This software can convert movies to the correct galaxy tab format and will allow you to then copy it to your device for viewing.

To do this the conversion software must read the DVD through your DVD ROM and convert it to MPEG4 format which is what an galaxy tab can read to display video and sound. Poor quality converters lose a lot of detail and sound quality however so you must be careful in which you choose to use as many are sub standard. You must also ensure that you set the resolution to 1280 x 800 which is the native galaxy tab resolution or it will not display correctly on your device.

For those of you worried that putting a DVD on an galaxy tab is illegal this is not the case. As long as you are not distributing the movie by uploading it to the web or by selling it to others this is perfectly legal as you own the master copy of this disc. The companies that sell movies however do not want people doing this because they would rather you pay them more money to download new copies that are galaxy tab friendly so you have to pay them more money. So go ahead and copy your DVDs and enjoy them on your galaxy tab ... it is ok!

So if you want your movies on the go, you need a great DVD converter. But obtaining a good DVD converter is a bit easier said than done. Legal threats have deterred some of the larger software companies from distributing DVD ripping software. Thus the only software you will find will be from companies you may not have heard of. Do an online search on "DVD ripping software" for a list of options. Compare different products, read any disclosures carefully, and look for non-biased reviews (5 Best DVD RipperReview Comparisons) on the products to decide on the right product for yourself. What applies for the Galaxy Tab applies for most of the Tablet Computers as well. You'll need to keep in mind that you always limited to what the Graphic Engine of your device could do and handle!!

That said, you should be care that you're using the right resolution as you convert the Movies/Clips to be able to see what you like. The resolution will differs from device to device. And it's also a question of the available resources if you would be able to see or not the movie/clip.

And just as to note that as well: you may could use an external DVD/CD Player if that Player is selfpowered, which means has it's own power source. Same applies for external HDD's.

Since Galaxy Tab has no DVD/Blu-ray disc drive, you have to rip& convert them to Galaxy Tab supported video format like MPEG4 with a proper video resolution.
