It's not just about price point. Resistive screen accomidates stylus and handwriting is better suited for Chines/Asian market.If you came from iPhone, the feel is very different. Try tapping/scrolling with fingernail or stylus until you get used to the difference.

Most Chinese ppl I meet have a long pinky nail for ear wax anyways. I grew one so I can use my tablet

Just kidding, I use the back tip of my fingernail (thumb-brush down, index fngr-brush up).
