Resistive Screen Pads are a Rip off.I am not even kidding.I am the poor owner of the Pandigital Novel and the Augen Gentouch as well as an iPhone user. The resistive screen market is nothing more than a rush to market, cheap rip off to anyone who actually plans to use the resistive screen device (PDN or Augen Gentouch) as their primary home PC Tablet. The resistive screen is just aweful. The only people who are on board with these devices are the Android testing, rooting, hacking community looking for a cheap toy to play with.Otherwise, the usability of the product is very poor.Soon the capacitive screen pads will be out this fall or by Christmas. This is an honest feedback that needs to be told truthfully to the community. Please do not delete this message, for you will waste more people's money on resistive screen pads.

Go look for some direct from manufacturer prices on Resistive verses capacitive screens. There is a large monetary difference and if you wait until capacitive devices come out later, don't be surprised when they are $50 to $100 more than resistive screened devices. Resistive screens can be very usable. Sounds like you've got some bad ones and/or don't know the proper manner to use a resistive touch screen(likely). An example of responsive useful resistive touchscreen used by someone who understands them.YouTube - ‪Archos 7 HT Home Tablet Android 1.5 Rooted with Google‬‎
Price is a major issue' date=' as resistive are a lot cheaper to make. There will be a day when price comes down and there will be no more resistive screens, but we are not there yet, so let's enjoy what we have now.[/QUOTE'] That's just like saying it is cheaper to make a 200 MHz processor vs a 1 GB processor.Or that Black and White TVs are cheaper than Color.Come on now. Resistive Screen usability is extremely sub-par.Dial up is cheaper than High Speed, butthere is now way people will choose to revert back to dial up for they will see their life pass by in slow motion.Ever type on a resistive screen? Come on man.

It's not just about price point. Resistive screen accomidates stylus and handwriting is better suited for Chines/Asian market. If you came from iPhone, the feel is very different. Try tapping/scrolling with fingernail or stylus until you get used to the difference.

The guy in the you tube has talons man. His finger nails are longer than my wife's finger nails. That is not a great demonstration. Most people (guys) don't have finger nails that long.Although, the Archos seems to be more responsive.Does his Acrchos have any rooting, clock up of the CPU, or screen calibration or screen apps to make it faster?Does the Android 1.6 run faster than the Android OS 2.1 which Augen has on it?Is the Archos better than the Augen?

Give it another year, no inferior technology disappears overnight. Only two or three years ago did HDTV become a majority.Yes, I type daily on a resistive screen. I am used to it and it's not as bad as you make it out to be.
Most Chinese ppl I meet have a long pinky nail for ear wax anyways. I used my nail the other day and I litterally heard the scratch as I tried to scroll up. Be careful!

I disagree. The whole idea with the iPad was not to replace your iphone or laptop etc. Its a luxury item to use in-between those devices. The variations of android tablets will not replace a smartphone or laptop either. These are just cool luxury devices that take you to the same URL facebook, yahoo, myspace, or skype. For that reason, I don't think I need to spend $600 to go to yahoo.com on a tablet. IMHO
