i am thinking of buying an android tablet and was wondering if i bought a tablet with the 1.5 firmware,would i be able to install the newest firmware 2.1...thanks

Only a few tablets support 2.1 (very very few, and they're usually expensive). The main devices supported here do not support 2.1. None of the devices that ship with 1.5 or 1.6 are upgradable to 2.x.
